Two tables were in play with Mrs. J. F. Jacobs winning the score prize. When cards were laid aside Mrs. Jacobs was assisted by, Mrs. E. H. Hall in serving a salad course. The card rooms were attractive with sprays of quince and jasmine artistically arranged. Mrs. McMillan Entertains Friends Mrs. Billy McMillan entertained guests for three tables of bridge on Friday afternoon at her home on East Carolina avenue. Nandina berries with greenery, quince and jasmine witt , # other early spring shrubs made a pretty setting for the games. Top honors for the afternoon’s progressions were won by Mrs. Chaney Stone and Mrs. T. C. Johnson, Jr. Later in the afternoon a salad course and sweets were served. Youth Rally At Thomwell Memorial An interdenominational Youth Rally will be held on Sunday eve ning, February 3, at 6:15 in the Thornwell Memorial chapel. A program entitled “The Call,” is being presented for the young people, the adult advisers and min isters from Clinton and Lydia. A film, “The Accused,” will also be shown. Officers of the organization are: 'Miss Louise Tribble, chairman; Miss Terry Thomas, secretary; Miss Bernice Stroup, adult adviser. A bouquet of early spring flow ers including jasmine, quince and narcissus, centered the prettily ap pointed supper table. Russian tea was served with the meal and later cakes and cookies were pass ed. Misses Mary Blakely and Beat rice Heron of Chester, were out of town guests for the party. Linda Bridges Has Birhtday Linda Bridges, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Bridges, entertain ed a number of friends with a the atre party Saturday afternoon in celebration of her 11th birthday. Later in the afternoon the group returned to Linda’s home where cake and ice cream were served. January Meeting Methodist Women The Woman’s Society of Chris tian Service of Broad Street Metho dist church met Monday at the church. “Sweet Hour of Prayer” was sung by the group, after which Mrs. Lewis Pitts read verses 1-8 from the 2nd chapter of 1st Tim othy. Mrs. W. H. Simpson led the devotional with “The Power of Prayer” as the theme. After a pe riod of silence was observed, fol lowed by sentence prayers by members of the society, Mrs. J. V. This group was formerly a circle of the First Presbyterian church but has recently formed their oton organization.
