James T. Crews, Sr., former Lau

member of the force of The Laurens
Advertiser, is 87 years old but has
the spirit and energy of persons
many years younger than he.
Last week, “Chief’ Crews, as he
is popularly known, made hir annual
visit to the Piedmont Interstate Fair
in Spartanburg, marking the 27th
consecutive year he has taken in the
exposition.
He made the rounds of the ex
hibits and other attractions with his
daughter, Mrs. J. Y. Wallace, who
resides in Spartanburg.
Mr. Crews, who has a genuine zest
for life, said he thoroughly enjoyed
the excursion to the fair and that
he wouldn’t miss the opportunity to
go if he could help it. He looks for

he said.
