Crews, Sr., former Lau rens police chief aru) now an active member of the force of The Laurens Advertiser, is 87 years old but has the spirit and energy of persons many years younger than he. Last week, “Chief’ Crews, as he is popularly known, made hir annual visit to the Piedmont Interstate Fair in Spartanburg, marking the 27th consecutive year he has taken in the exposition. He made the rounds of the ex hibits and other attractions with his daughter, Mrs. J. Y. Wallace, who resides in Spartanburg. Mr. Crews, who has a genuine zest for life, said he thoroughly enjoyed the excursion to the fair and that he wouldn’t miss the opportunity to go if he could help it. Intermediates Continue Study Continuing the Int ermediate Christian Adventure week, last Tuesday evening the members en joyed a weiner roast at the picnic shelter given by Mesdames C. R- O'Dell and David Madden. Mrs. Lavinia Cooley directed the activi ties and recreation. The most in spiring remarks were given by Johnny Moore on “World Sports manship.” A worship center with burning candles was used for the worship program and was given by Mrs. Mary Simpson. The past Tuesday Mesdames W. W. Niver and James Fulmer treated the group during their social hour. Sub-District Moots The Maltese Cioss sub-district met Monday evening at Broad Street Methodist church in Clinton. The MYF of Lydia church had charge of the program on “Com- munity Service.’’ Following this the counsellor of Broad Street showed a movie, “That His Way May Be Known.” The business hour was brief and refresmments of punch and home- baked cup cakes in many Hallo we’en designs were served by the hostess. Eighteen members of Ep- worth MYF attended. With Tho Sick Mrs. Frances Bryant of Cross Hill, underwent surgery at the local hospital on October 19. Friends of J. C.
