Melody Club Meets Tonight
The Melody club will meet to
night at 8 o’clock at the commun
ity building. All members are in
vited to be present.
Church Conference Sunday
Next Sunday at 11 o'clock a
church conference will be held for
the purpose of electing a lay dele
gate to represent Bailey FMemorial
church at the annual' conference,
which convenes in Maple Street
Southern Methodist church, Colum
bia. November 1-4, and also to elect
Woman's Club Has Musical
Program
The Woman’s club held their
regular meeting at the community
house Monday, October 15. ‘Mrs.
J. V. Lowe, president, called the
meeting to order. Mrs. Eloise Ellis
gave the devotional using verses
from the sixth chapter of Matthew.
Her subject was “Putting Christ
First.” For the prayer she asked
everyorf£-tt>r say a silent prayer
while Mrs. Land played “My Faith
Looks Up to Thee.” The roll was
called and minutes of the last
meeting read by the secretary, Mrs.
Mildred Kinard. During the busi
ness discussion the club voted to
make Mrs. John Holland and Mrs.
Roy Trammell honorary members.
A musical program was given by
Mrs. Joe E. Land and her pupils.

and livestock exhibit’s. Prof. R.
R. Richey, of the Animal Husband
ry department at Clemson col
lege, was quoted as saying that
the beef and dairy animal exhibit
was among the best that he had
seen in the state. This was es
pecially notable, he said, in view
of the fair.
Xhe officials Said they wished
to express their thanks to the su
perintendents of all ’ the depart
ments and those who entered ex
hibits.

Laurens County Fair
Said 'Big Success'

The second Laurens County fair,
which closed its gates Saturday
night, was pronounced a “big sue- j
cess” by fair officials who said that!
attendance was approximately 2,- j
000 more than last year in spite of I
one rainy night.

proximately 22,000 people.
