M. A. Frye of Lydia Mills Pentecos tal church has accepted a call to this church following the resigna tion of Rev. Jones. The new pas tor filled the pulpit for the first time Sunday evening. Watermelon Slicing Given Saturday Rev. Vernon Inman, pastor of Joanna Presbyterian church, an nounces a watermelon slicing at man should bear in public life. He must so live that he will influence others for good. Like salt as a pre servative, he must have a sustain -; ing influence over his fellows. And,! like a light, his good deeds will il lumine the way of men about him. A light is made to shine and to be put on a candlestick so that it will give light unto all that are in the house. It will not shine under certain conditions. And it will hot shine when it is cut off from its sources of supply. Under alien in fluences a Christian’s light will go out. It will also fail when he is cut off from God. The saving presence of good peo ple is also illustrated in the para ble of the leaven, of the leaven which a woman had in three meas ures of meal. The influence of good people under any circumstances will often grow and grow until all in reach are affected by it for good. In all that a man does, in the problems and the crises he may meet, he must be true to his Lord and Master, even as Peter and his fellows were when threatened with dire disaster and even death. And we find Peter, in a time of perse cution, writing to encourage his people to be patient and true un der great affliction, as knowing the reward would be great by and by. .COMMERCIAL PRINTING This completely equipped combi* nation Newspaper-Commercial Print ing plant can serve yon better.
