Woman's Club Holds Banquet
The Woman’s club banquet was
held at Hotel Mary Musgrove in
Clinton on last Saturday evening,
and was another happy link in the
chain of Joanna events. The guest
speaker was Mrs. Larry Dillard of
Clinton.
About 50 ladies attended, at
which time the new officers for
the coming year were announced.
These annual events always
bring to mind some former goofl
times enjoyed by this group and
the same old faithfuls (how good
it is to be numbered among the
faithfuls) can be heard and seen
at each pleasant gathering, as well
as in the line of duty. Going
through some old files we find a
letter dated June 24, 1936, writ
ten to the Clyde-Mallory Line at
Charleston. The letter was writ
ten by the late Wm. A. Moorhead
with reference to a boat trip from
Charleston to Jacksonville leaving
on July 2 and returning to Charles
ton on July 4. Mrs. R. G. Carr Avas
president of the club and 76 ladies
definitely signed up for the trip.
It is impossible to list all the names
but we find some who have passed
on and others who have found oth
er matters too pressing to continue
in the club or who have moved out
of town, among them being: Mrs.
Lucile Nabors, Mrs. C- N. Franks,
Mrs. Elizabeth Hendrix, Mrs. L. R.
Templeton, Mrs. Maude Bridges,
Mrs. Wm. O’Shields, Mrs. William
Gastley, Mrs. Laura Burton, Mrs.
Ira Guyton, Mrs. J. J. Clark, Mrs.
Roy O’Dell. Mrs. C. B. Dickey,
Mrs. J. S. Rowland, Mrs. Toy Mur
phy, Miss Margaret Warren, Mrs.
Jack Davenport. Mrs. Troy Ellis,
Mrs. Ed Jones, Mrs. Glenn Frank
lin, Mrs. E. M. Sweatt.
