Parkman and chil dren visited in Greenville Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Blackweld- er, Mrs. Mary Owens, and Jessie Owens of Greenwood, visited Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davis over the week-end. Pvt Dennis Fallow of Fort Jack- son, is spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Fallow. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lowery were week-end guests of Mrs. Lowery’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hunni- cutt, in Joanna. Mr. and Mrs. R. T. McWatters and children of Atlanta, Ga., vis ited Mr. and Mrs. W. D. McWattert over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Prather of Gray Court visited Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Daniels recently. Brenda and Johnnie Stroud of Biloxi, Miss., are spending a few weeks with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. John McAlister of Whitmire, visited Mrs. Gus Harris Friday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Berry and granddaughter, Pat sperut Satur day in Newberry with Mrs. Clara Turner. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Neal and Mrs. Mack Farhman and daughter. Lou, visited Mrs. B. B. Neal and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neal on Sun day from Travelers Rest. Hubert Leopard visited his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Leopard, near Saluda Sunday. Kathleen Ballew and family vis ited Mr. and Mrs. John Ballew near Clinton Sunday. Jean Ballew is spending a week with her aunt Mrs. Ethel Smith, at Lydia. Miss Jerlene Tompkins of Ches ter, is spending two weeks with her cousin, Claudia Lollis. , Leo Thomas of Savannah, Ga., visited his sister, and brother-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Pressley Chaney, a few days the past week Arthur Mayfield of Cherokee, visited relatives here recently. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Thibedeau and son and Mrs. John Campbell returned home with him and also visited Mrs. Campbell’s brother. Jim Ar- rowood. Little Nancy Ann Smith spent the week-end with Franceen Smith at Lydia. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. . Owens of Gaffney, visited Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Owens Sunday. Mrs. Bobby Braswell spent the week-end in Whitmire with rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Berry and Mr. and Mrs. Manley Penland and Pat spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Berry in Carlisle. Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Lyda and; children visited in Dallas , N. C., J over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Madden and children were visitors in Hender sonville, N. C., Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. James Moore and daughter, Mrs. Landrum Lawson; and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson visited relatives in Tennessee over the week-end. Oxner spent the week end in Williamston with her sister, Mrs. Louise Devall. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Smith and son of Asheville, N. C., visited Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Trammell over the week-end. M-Sgt. and Mrs. L. R. Foster, were week-end visitors of his par-J ents, Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Foster. Mrs. Mary Passmore who has been visiting relatives here, returned to Fayetteville, N. C., with Sgt. and Mrs. Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Kuykendall, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Alewine spent Sunday in Fort Mill with S. S. Giels. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fowler and children of Augusta, Ga., are visit ing Mr. and Mrs. James Dunaway. Mr. and Mrs. Argo Ivester and family attended a birthday dinner honoring his mother, Mrs. J. J. Ivester, at her home in Travelers Rest Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Yarbrough and Mike visited Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Yarbrough in Whitmire Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Hawson and children spent Sunday in Laurens with Mr. and Mrs. William Duna way. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Harris of Laurens, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe McGinnis.* Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shelton and children visited friends at Prosper ity Sundhy. They en joyed a picnic dinner at Willard’s picnic grounds. Woman's Club To Meat The Woman’s club will hold its regular meeting Thursday, June 15, at the community building. All members are invited to be present. With Th# Sick Milton Burton has returned home after an operation at the Newberry hospital. Mrs. Bonnie Sexton is ill at her home. Sylvene Rice has measles. Friends of R. C. Oxner will be sorry to hear he is a patient at Hays hospital. James Crain has been ill. McCullough-Harris Miss Virginia Ellen McCullough and Richard Merrell Harris were united in marriage on June 2 at the home of Rev. James R. Bruce, pastor of the Baptist church in Ware Shoals. Mrs. Harris is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. McCullough, and received her education in the Clinton schools. Mr. Harris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C- F. Harris of Batesburg, and received his education in the Salu da schools. At present he is in the army, stationed at Fort Bragg, N. C. After a short wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Fayette ville, N. C. t Mr. Harris returned to Fort Bragg, N. C., and Mrs. Har ris returned here to live with her parents for the present. Barker-Sulll* Wedding Miss Joan Barker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Barker, be- came the bride of Jimmy Suttle Sunday, June 3, at 2 o’ clock, at the home of the bride on Gordon street. Rev. C. J. Sexton officiated in the presence of relatives and friends. Unattended, the bride and groom entered the room together. She was dressed in navy blue with white accessories. Her corsage was of red rosebuds. The mother of the bride wore navy blue with white accessories. Her corsage was of white carnations. The groom’s mother wore green with brown and white accessories. Her corsage was of white carnations. “I Love You Truly,” was played during the ceremony. Immediately following the cere mony a small reception was held in the home and pictures made of the young couple. After their wedding trip to Char lotte, N. C., the couple is at home to their friends on Gordon street. Guests present for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ander son and daughter of Newberry; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Timms of Pendleton, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Humphries of Joanna; Mrs. Lillie Mae Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Thorn ton, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Suttle and daughter, Mildred, Mrs. Ruth Ox ner and Miss Catherine Dunaway. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Gibbs spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. W. F. Gray, in Greenville. Miss Shirley Wilson spent the day with Betty Milam Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Thrasher were sup per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Barker recently. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Seay mo tored to Spartanburg Saturday. Mrs. Johnnie Butler had a birth day June 11. Little Patricia Ann Lawson will be^^ears old June 20. Phil McGoo Scout of Month Phil McGee has been selected as scout of the month in troop 138. The leaders of the troop selected him as the first boy for this honor. The scout of the month will be the boy who in the opinion of the lead ers has been most outstanding dur ing the month. Phil is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. W. McGee. He is 14 years cld and will be a member of the ninth grade in high school next year. He is an honor student, having fin ished the eighth grade with an av erage of 94. Phil is very active in the troop. He is always willing to help in any way he can.
