The wood nymphs cleared the
grounds for the entrance of the
twenty-four blackbirds baked in a
pie. carried by six chefs. The Beg
gars in rags and velvet gowns came
to the party. Twenty-four little,
girls in ballerino gowns of green
and pink danced on the green in a,
Maypole dance. Mrs. Wallace readj

Mrs. Ella Nance and Calvin Cooper
were instrumental in directing and
planning this festival in honor of
the May Queen.
The Queen. Miss Carolyn Roof,
and her maid of honor, Miss Cor
nelia Roberts, were chosen by a
popular vote of the seventh grade
students. Miss Roof was beautiful
in white satin with a crown of gold
ornaments with red hearts. She
carried an arm bouquet of red glad
ioli. Miss Roberta wore green or-
gandv and carried an arm bouquet
of pink gladioli. The King (Dale
Sellers), was resplendent in royal
purple with ermine bands.

The third annual state track
meet of the South Carolina Recrea-

The Clinton and Lydia Mills are

ciation and entered two teams in
the meet. The Midgets and Mites
took part in the 100 and 60 yard
dashes for boys. 50 and 60 yard
dashes for girls. Girls standing
