Mrs. James Harper Leighton, Jr.,
of this city and Greenville at din
ner, at the home of the former. Mrs.
Leighton is the former Miss Betty
Lou Bower.
Mrs. Pitts' Pupils
Give Musical Program
The piano pupils of Mrs. James
Pitts presented a musical program
Tuesday afternoon in the Florida
street school auditorium at three
o'clock with twenty-eight pupils
participating in the program.
Arrangements of hydrangeas,
gladioli, daffodils and narcissus
made a pretty setting for the occa
sion.

day.
An interesting program on the
University of Beirut in Lebanon
was given by Mrs. R. E. Sadler.
During the afternoon the hostess
served a salad course and coffee.
Daffodils, spirea, and iris were
attractively arranged in the living
room.
Garden Club To Meet
At Musgrove Hotel
Sponsored by the Clinton Garden
club, Mrs. W. Harrell Wilaon of
Greenville and Mrs. Arch W. Walker
of Spartanburg, will give course I
and II in the Judging School to be
held here at the new Mary Mus
grove hotel on May 1, 2, and S.
Mrs. Wilaon and Mrs. Walker are
outstanding in garden club work
and art recognized authorities in
their field. ^

Boy On Birthday
On Monday afternnon Mrs. Bobby
Dean Dailey entertained with a par
ty in honor of her little Son, Robert
Baxter, who Was celebrating his first
birthday. Around twenty little
friends assembled for the occasion.
A prettily decorated birthday
cake holding one tiny candle cen
tered the dining room table, where
cake and ice cream were served by
Mrs. Daily following an afternoon
of games.
Mrs. Wise Has
Bridge Club Meet,
Members of her brige club met
Thursday at the home of Mrs. H. M.
Wise for a number of afternoon
games.
Two tables were arranged for
cards in a setting of bright spring
flowers featuring daffodils. Mrs.
Preston Thompson was high score
winner for the progressions. Club
visitors for the afternoon were Mrs.
H. D. Payne and Mrs. C. W. Stone.
When cards were laid aside the
hostess served a tempting refresh
ment course.

Miss Betty Taylor
Miss Betty Taylor, popular bride-
elect of the month, was honored
with a lingerie ahower on Saturday
afternoon, by Mr*. R. O. Hamilton
and Misses Virginia Neville and
Bernice Stroup at the home of Mrs.
George W. Bailey.
Spring flowers were used effec
tively in decoration.
Several interesting contests were
enjoyed during the afternoon.
The hostess, assisted by Mrs-
Bailey and Mias Florence Nixon,
served lime punch with cookies- The
honors* was presented the gifts in
a novel way.

Ella Riddell Circle
In April Meeting
The regular monthly meeting of
the EJla Riddell circle of Thomwell
Memorial church was held on Tues
day morning at the Home of Peace
with Mrs. Varina Betsill as hostess.
The meeting was called to order
and opened with prayer by the new
chairman, Miss Lillie Hooks. After
a business session plans were made
for the new year’s work. Mrs. Hooks
gave a brief sumary of an article
from the Survey entitled ‘Church
Related Colleges are Imperiled.”
Miss Lucile Smith taught the first
Bible lesson on the Ten Command- I
ments, after which the .meeting
closed with sentence prayers.
