New Styles Burst Out
In Garden Colors ^
Spring fashions are bursting out
in colors that might easily have
been plucked from your favorite
garden.
Colors are gentle. Colors are
•muted. Prints are subtle, such as
the tiny plaids, the diminutive
checks, hte florals and geometries
that are artful minute-size tracer
ies and the stripes, here again, but
ever so delicately crayoned in. 1
Yes, over all colors reign as de
lightful reflections of every sweet
Spring bloom from the deepest of
blue iris to the most delicate of daf
fodil yellow.
Nary Again
It’s navy, of course, as the leader
for suits, for dresses, for pert and
short toppers, to be foiled by the
sparkle of white at your throat at
your wrists, on your head. Whether
it’s a deep black navy or a spark
ling blue navy will depend upon
yuor own taste, but all shades of
navy are here and ready for active
spring fashion maneuvers.
Greyed blue, lighter than royal,
darker than pastel blue is coming
into spring prominence. It may be
seen in gala prints, as a soft over-
check. as a pretty spring hat. And
again, sparkling white acts as the
perfect accent-note.
Your dresses and your suits will
boast that most prized of all spring
flowers, the violet, in tones that
range from the very deep to the
very delicate. And what more dra
matic contrast than the addition of
smoldering copper or flaming orange
to this strength-inviting shade.
Team Grey
Grey in patterns, grey in lustrous
pearl tones, this is how you will
find that ever popular shade of
spring, this year. Lighter in tone
than last year’s suits and coats but
nevertheless here and ready to take
its place as one of the leaders of
the season.
Biege, considerate neutral tone for
the radiant spread of spring color,
loks its most important when stlyed
as a suit or a coat and coupled with
a strong partner which could be
star-of-the-season navy or fresh-as-
the-grass green or even dazzling and
gay yellow.
And this is not all, for there are
other colors to appeal to every taste
and imagination. There are toasty
browns, corally reds, soft melons,
electric aquas and touches of gold.
So prepare to enter spring in color
and enter it in the color you love
best!

Suit Plus In Fashion
For Spring Wear
New York, Mar. 14.—A suit is
more than just a skirt and a jacket
in a woman’s wardrobe. It’s three
or four-piece ensemble.
“A suit plus” is the way designer
Adele Simpson explained it when
she showed her spring suits with
stoles, detachable capes and har
monizing blouses.
One navy blue suit, for instance,
came with a navy taffeta blouse
and a fringed wool stole. Another
four-piece Easter suit of navy blue
had a detachable shoulder cape,
plus a sleeveless white chiffon
blouse.
There even are “sling capes” and
detachable white linen cape collars
on Mrs. Simpson’s dresses to give
them a double life. About the only
thing she admitted was a complete
outfit in a single piece was a print
ed silk chiffon cocktail dress. Made
with a slim under dress and.lose
panels of gathered chiffon in front
and back, held at the waist by the
belt, the chiffon prints are sleeve
less and airy.
“We have gone completely away
from wallpaper or flowery prints,”
said Mrs. Simpson. “’These chiffons
are typical of the contemporary pat
terns with a textured look.”
There is a very familiar look to
many of the fashions including the
snug-waisted dresses of Jacques
Fath, Paris designer who sides with
Christian Dior in keeping hemlines
lower this spring.
Path’s American collection in
cludes pracitcally no sleeves, but
many wide leather belts on every
thing from taffeta to silk organza.
His favorite sleeveless cocktail dress
has a wide collar that forms pointed
revers, and a Iqose panel at one
side of the slim skirl
According to Ceil Chapman, silk
faille is taking the place of silk
crepe this spring. She used silk
faUle and silk tissue taffeta for her
navy blue daytime suits and cock
tail dresses.
Peach Trees Not
Damaged By Freeze
Spartanburg.—A check of peach
orchards in the area Wednesday
morning indicated no damage was
done to blossoms by Tuesday night’s
freezing weather.
The low temperature recorded at
the weather bureau during the
night was 29 degrees.
Orchards still faced another cold
hurdle tonight. The official weather
forecast calls for continued cold
with temperatures possibly going as
law as 26 to 28 degrees. Winds were
expected to limit frost prospects
somewhat.
Peach experts regard tempera
tures as low as 26 degrees for any
prolonged period as exceedingly
dangerous.
