Baird of Big Springs, Texas, visited Rev. and Mrs. J. B. Cole and family Tuesday. Dr. Baird will hold a revival at the Lau rens Church of God starting Wed nesday night. The public is in vited. Richard McAfcee and son and Charles McAbee of Enoree, were Sunday guests of Mrs. McAbee and Mrs. Will Hampton. Miss Vera Smith of Laurens, spent the week-end with Miss Ruth Low ery. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Glenn and son of Greenville, spent Monday with Mrs. J. H. Seay and family. Mrs. Seay returned with them for a few days visit. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Heath and daughter and Mrs. Royce Smith and children of Ware Shoals, spent Thursday with Mrs. J. H. Seay. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Seay and son and Mr. and Mrs. Royce Smith and son were visitors near Augusta, Ga., and visited Clarks Hill dam Sunday. Miss Nell Canfield visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grady Can- field, in Union Sunday. Mrs. C. E. Ivey of Ware Shoals, Mrs. B. B. Neal and Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Ivey and family visited Sgt. and Mrs. Charlie Robertson at Fort Jackson where Sgt. Robertson is a patient at the base hospital. Mrs. C. E. Ivey of Ware Shoals, spent the week-end with relatives here. (Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Owens and son of Laurens, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Owens and children of Gaffney, and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Owens and son of Union visited J. H. Owens over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. James Ammons and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Womtole and children of Winnstooro, spent the week-end with Mrs. W. H. Ammons and family. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Friends of Bobby Hamrick will regret to learn he underwent an operation last Thursday at the Gen- ral hospital in Greenville. Mrs. Walker Gregory is a patient at the Blalock clinic. Mrs. Louisa Owens has returned ^ome after a stay at State Park. Mrs. Wallace Carr is improving at her home after having flu. Birthday Dinner Given Mrs. A. G. Galloway, Mrs. Karl Espieg and Miss Patricia Ann Kelly were honored with a birthday dinner at the home of Mrs. Galloway Sun- day. Guests for the occasion were Lt. and Mrs. Charles Galloway of Fort Benning, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Karl Espieg, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gallo- J way of Laurens, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Galloway of this city. Mrs. Charles Kelly was hostess for the occasion. Melody Clnb Meets Tonight The Melody club will meet to night ^Thursday) at 7:30 o’clock at the community house. Woman's Society Meeting The Bailey Memorial church Woman’s society met Tuesday eve ning at the community house for its March meeting with Mrs. Mur ray Adams as hostess. The meeting was called to order 1 by the president by singing the hymn, “Trust and Obey.” The devotional, given by Mrs Betty Snelgrove, was taken from the 24th and 25h chapters of Luke. Prayer was offered by Mrs. John Holland. An interesting story was given by Mrs. Ruth Quinton, “The First Etaser.” The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The roll was called with each one responding with a Bible verse. The lesson of the evening was on “Stewardship of Talent,” given by Mrs. Ruby Lawson, which was very inspiring. The business was dis cussed with one new member added to the roll. The junior missionary group were the guests of the evening and assisted in serving refreshments. The meeting adjourned with pray er The April meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Elloree Cun ningham. Hoi-1 land, of this city, announce the birth of a son, Joel Steven, on March 7,! at St. Francis hospital. of the Rev. Joe Giles in Joanna. The bride chose for the occasion a navy blue suit with , navy and white accessories. Her corsage was of pink carnations. The young couple left Saturday for Kentucky on their honeymoon. They will make their home on West Carolina avenue in the home of Mrs. W. A. Buchanan.
