Miss Elliott had as her guest Miss Dot Wood. Friends of the L. H. Poags will re gret to learn they received new* from Miami, Fla., of the death of Mr. Hoag's aunt, Mrs. M. O. Hitt. Mrs. Hitt is also related to Mrs. Marian Hamm. She made many friends in Joanna during her visits here who will deeply regret to hear of her passing. Class To Meet The Ever-Ready Sunday school class of Epworth church will hold its quarterly business meeting Tues day, March 13, at 7 o’clock in the assembly room of the church. The hostesses are Mesdames Perry Turner, G. N. Foy and Pearl Wil liams. All ladies of the church are extended a cordial welcome to be present. Birthday Surprise Mrs. L. H. The meeting was opened with prayer by G. N. Foy. During the business session officers for the new year were elect ed as follows: President—John Ross. Vice-President—Lester Hair. Secretary—Milton Bolick. Treasurer—Henfy Hunter. Two directors resigned, W. D. Beckam and Miss Mildred Bozard. Young Woman’s Banquet On Friday evening March 2, 75 young women from 7 churches in the Reedy River Association gathered at the Joanna club for their annual Young Woman’s Auxiliary banquet. The theme was "Sailing With Christ—the Master Pilot.” Mrs. Alex Crawford of Joanna, associationat ! counsellor, dressed in a navy cap- f tain’s uniform, was the captain of the voyage. The receiving line was composed of girls dressed to repre sent different countries. Each guest was given an attractive blue pro gram with a white ship painted on the front.
