Club
The February meeting of the Mel
ody club was held Thursday night at
the community house at which time

(Mrs. Marcelle Barker presented the
retiring officers with gifts in appre
ciation of their work done during the
first year of the club. After the
business session a covered dish sup
per, honoring the retiring officers,
was enjoyed. Also enjoyed during
the evening was a dtonce number by
Miss Jackie Franks accompanied at
the piano by Miss Martha Washing
ton, and a duet by Miss Marie Weir
and Mrs. Joe Land, accompanied by
Miss Washington.
“Community Brotherhood” Club
Meets Saturday
The “Community Brotherhood”
club meets next Saturday evening at
7:30 in Bailey Memorial church with
all interested men invited.
A miscellanffous program, both
profitable and entertaining will be
given. The purpose of this organi
zation is to strive to create a big
ger and better Christian fellowship,
as influenced by the united thinking,
living, and activity of the men in the
community, to encourage united ef
fort on their part, for the support
of any worthy project in the com
munity. Written invitations are be
ing mailed this week to a number of
men, reminding them of the meeting.

Evans-Hawkins
Miss Margaret Evans, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Evans, became
the bride of Roy Hawkins, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. J. Hawkins of Joanna, at
5:30 Friday afternoon, Feb. 23, at Cal
vary Baptist church. The Rev. J.
W. Spillers officiated, using the dou
ble ring ceremony.

thedral candles arranged in - seven-
branched candelabra on white
wrought iron, stands and floor baskets
of white gladioli and ferns.
