RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Grapefruit Slaw
(Serves 6)
2 grapefruit, sectioned
3 cups shredded red or white
cabbage
*£ cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon salt
H teaspoon celery seed
Cut peel off grapefruit, deep
enough to remove white membrane.
Then_ cut slice from top and bot
tom. Cut along sides of each dividing
membrane from outside to middle of-
core. Remove, section by section, and
set on salad greens. Combine remain
ing ingredients and pile in center of
fruit.

Kindergarten Party
The Kindergarten Mother* club
'conducted a Valentine party for the i
Kindergaten childen last Tuesday!
| moning. The Valentine box was
dressed in white frills and tied with |
red ribbons pointed with tiny red •
hearts.
Mrs. Wallace led the group in play
ing several games and refreshments
of ice cream and cake were served
by Mrs. Louise Harvey, Mrs. Calvin
Cooper, Mrs. Mildred Kanard and
Mrs. Charles Humphries. Thirty-two
children were present and received
numerous Valentines. A favor of
Valentine hearts was given each
child.
Valentine Party for Bluebirds
Miss Mary Johnson, Mrs. A. C.
Young, Jr., and Mrs. Wallace were
hostesses at a Valentine party Friday
afternoon at the community center
to three groups of Bluebirds.
Miss Johnson led the girls in sing
ing novelty songs. After playing
games the box was opened and many
lovely Valentines were distributed.
Little Kay Young was a visitor at
the party.
Woman's Club Entertains
The lounge of the community cen
ter made an attractive scene for a
Valentine party Thursday night when
the Womans’ club entertained their
husbands and guests at a lovely 1
party. Mrs. E. C. Burdette, presi
dent, acted as hostess.
A short business meeting was held.
The yearbooks were distributed and
the green and gold contest launched.
Mrs. Mattie Harvey* is chairman of
the green and Mrs. Perry Sumerel
chairman of the golds. Mrs. Wallace
made a report of the meeting of the
regional classroom teachers at the
Clinton high school last Tuesday.
Mrs. Burdette and Mrs. Wallace were
invited guests. The club will spon
sor a dinner or bake sale to help the
fund for sending the high school sen
ior class to Washington this spring.
After singing the club song, “Look
For The Beautiful,’’ the program was
turned over to Miss Mary Johnson.
Tables were laid for “Heart’s Dice.”
The floating prize was won by Mrs.
S. J. Todd. Mrs. David Word was
high score winner and Mrs. Harold
Blacks!ock was low winner.
Refreshments of cake squares, can
dies and punch were served by the
committee with Mrs. Clyde Trammell
as chairman. Television was enjoy
ed the rest of the evening.
Little Folks Enjoy Party
Mrs. Bill Nelson and Mrs. Connie
Davis entertained a group of Kinder
garten Children Friday morning in
the Kindergarten rooms honoring
the fourth birthday of little J. W.
Davis. Valentine motifs were used
as decorations.
Mrs. Wallace led the children in
several games and nursery rhymes.
After singing happy birthday the
niany gifts were opened.
Ice cream, cake and candies were
served. Colorful balloons were given
as favors.
Bride-Elect Given Shower
Complimenting Miss Iris Shumate,
who will be married soon, Mrs. Orin
Davis entertained about twenty-sev
en friends at a bridal shower Fri
day evening at her home.
A number of games wre enjoyed
and later the honoree was presented
a shown,- of lovely gifts.
Refreshments of sandwiches, pota
to chips and cold drinks were served
by tne hostess.
