Nine guests en joyed refreshments of cookies, cake, potato chips and cold drinks served by the hostess. Birthdays and Anniversaries Walter Edward Fuller celebrated his birthday January 18. A. M. Shumate, Jr., will observe his birthday February 7. Mrs. J. R. Fuller had a birthday January 20. Mis. G. C. Parrish, Sr., celebrated her birthday January 26 Perry Parrish had a birthday Jan. 29th. Among The Sick Charles Fuller was ill last week. Donnie Snider has been ill the past few days. (Mrs. Cloda Bagwell is at home af ter treatment and a stay at a local hospital. Toni Harvey and Harvey Shumate have mumps. Ruby Burnett is ill at her home on Magnolia street. Little Robert Abercrombie is in the General hospital in Spartanburg for treatment. Mickey Ann O'Shields has mumps. * : i Birth Announcement Burkhalter Born to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bark- halter Friday, January 26 , a son, Michael Eugene, at Hays hospital. MrS. Burkhalter is the former Miss' Ruthie Mae Owens. Friend-ship Party at Center The community center was the scene of a lovely party on Friday night. A group of girls who are members of the ninth grade, were hostesses at a ‘Friendship” party.. After playing several games dancing was enjoyed. The rooms were gaily decorated and the color scheme of pink and green was carried out on the refresh ment table. Tall candles cast a soft light over the room. A compote of pyramid design held homerhade can dies tinted in pink. Sandwiches and cold drinks were served by Mrs. Annie Mae Roper, as sisted by Ernestine Parrish, Barbara Whitmire and Barbara McLendon. Twenty-two invited guests were presentj Executive Committee To Meet The executive committee of the Woman’s club will hold a meeting Thursday (tonight) at the commun ity center at 7:30 o’clock. The mem bership committee is asked to meet at the same time. Hobby Club Meets The Hobby club met in the work rooms of the community center Mon day night for their class of arts and crafts. At present the class is studying and making designs and alumninum 1 trays. Patterns on different styles of etching and painting are being completed. Twenty-two meritbers were pres ent. The instructors are Mrs. A. C. Young, Jr., Mrs. O .B. Stone and Mrs. Wallace. Everyone is invited to attend. Romance-Knight Wedding Miss Dolly Romance and Bill Knight were married Saturday, Janu ary 27, in Laurens by the county judge of probate. The young touple are making their home at present with the groom's mother at Joanna. Iw4e Washington Approves Big Phone Loan Announcement was made from Washington Monday that the Rural Electrification Administration has approved a loan of $341,000 to the Piedmont Telephone Cooperative of Laurens for the construction of tele phone lines to serve parts of this county, Abbeville, Greenville, And erson and Newberry.
