William G. Putnam, 47, died at as
early hour Monday morning at the
hesne of his daughter, Mrs. Louieo
Cole, B9 Sumter street, after a brief
illness. He was a native of Laurens
county, a son of the late J. A. and
Callie Riddle Putnam.
He is survived by three sons and

nam of Joanna, Clyde Putnam of
Clinton, Mrs. Callie Murphy, Mm.
Edna Ballard, Mrs. Louise Cole and
Mrs. Murlee Farmer, all of Joamur
and seven grandchildren; three sis
ters, Miss Annie Putnam and Miss
Kattie Putnam and Mrs. C. E. Bur
dette of Gray Court.
Tun era 1 services were held Tues
day afternoon from the Joamui Bap
tist dhurch. The Rev. James B. Mit
chell was in charge assisted by Rev.
J. W. Spillers. Interment was in
Rosemont cemetery in Clinton.
Kitchen Shower For Bride-Elect
(Mrs. John Cadbaaoo entertained for
Miss Margaret Franklin, young
bride-elect, with a kitchen shower at
her home on Rivers street in New
berry Saturday evening. Mrs. Rich
ard Addison was joint hostess.
Upon entering, a small red-handled
kitchen spoon was pinned on as fa
vors and each guest registered on a
rolling pin.
Unusual writing games were en
joyed carrying out the kitchen motif
in the designs.
The honoree wore an aqua gabar
dine dress and her co reage was of
minialture, assorted kitchen spoons
tied with white ribbon.
Each guest brou^it her favorite
recipe which were placed in the
brides book for future reference.
The hostess served candle-light
salad, crackers and .iced drinks.
(Miss Franklin was presented a
