The marriage of Mtos Doris Elisa
beth Arnold of Florence, and Ser
geant Poaeph Leslie Griffin of Camp
Stowart, Ga. was solemnized at five-
thirty o’clock the afternoon of De
cember X) at the First Baptist church
with the Rev. Edward L Byrd, pas

A program of music was present
ed before the ceremony by Sam
uel Shank©, organist, and the Mimes
Mary Kemp Griffin and Joan Jerni-
fan. vocalists. Miss Jerrugan sang
"I Love You Truly,” and Mias Grif
fin sang “Because,” and as the bene
diction, **The Lord's Prayer.” The
traditional wedding marches were
used as the processional and reces
sional.
Ushers were the Messrs. Hugh
Grttfin, Gerald Langston and Harry
Baker, all of Florence, and James Ar
nold of Clinton. Attending the
bridegroom as his best man was his
brother, Gordon H. Griffin, of Flor
ence.
The bride’s only attendant was
Miss Polly Vaughan, the maid of
honor, who wore a wine suit with
blade accessories and a corsage of
pink carnations. -
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, J. L. Arnold, of this city,
wore a suit of aqua fail# with black
accessories. She carried a white
prayer book topped with an orchid
and showered with small white car
nations and white satin ribbon.
(Mrs. Arnold, mother of the bride,
wore a rust-colored suit with egg
shell accessories and a corsage of yel
low oamatione.
Immediately following the cere
mony a reception was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Grif
fin, brother and sister-in-laiw of the
bridegroom, on Cherokee Road.
Receiving with the bridal couple
were their parents and the bridal at
tendant. Mrs. C. D. Jemigan intro
duced the guests to the receiving line.
The bride table was covered with
a white outwork linen doth and held
the three-tiered wedding cake. Sil
ver candelabra bearing lighted white
tapers, tied with satin ribbon and en
circled with smilax, flanked the
punch bowl at ooe end of the table
Mrs. William Cole presided over
the bride’s register, and Mrs. Gerald
Langston, sister of the bridegroom,
presided at the punch bowl. The
wedding cake was served by Mrs.
Oscar Kinard, sister of the bride.
Mrs. Meredith Bates bade the guests
goodbye.
Later in the evening the couple
left for a wedding trip to Washing
ton. For traveling the bride wore
her wediing suit and a white wool
topper, with the orchid lifted from
her prayer book.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. L. Arnold, and a gr
uate of Clinton high school. She'
now a student nurse at the McLeod
Infirmary where she will graduate
with the February class. *
Sergeant Griffin is the son of H.
T. Griffin of Florence and the late
Mrs. Pauline Griffin. He is a grad
uate of the Florence high school and
is associated with the Griffin Con
struction company in Florence. At
present he is serving with the United
Startes Army and stationed at Camp
Stewart, Ga.
Out of town guests present for the
wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar
Kinard, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Campbell and Miss Sara Lou Barnes,
all of Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. George
L. Bunch of Columbia; Mrs. Aline
