announced.

Kitty Lou Hallman
Honored By Her School
Kitty Lou Hallman’s friends will be
interested to know that she was one
of the six children to be chosen to
represent her school in the Boston
Giobe-WOOP Quizdown program
which opened its 1951 season on Jan.
6 in Watertown, Mass., with two
schools competing. These children
were chosen because of their high
scholarship, their citizenship and
their general knowledge of historical
and geographical facts, it was an
nounced.
Kitty Lou attended Florida Street
school here in the first grade and the
last half of her third grade year.
Duiing the intervening time she was
in tne Philippines and did not attend
any formal school as the nearest Am
erican school was thirty miles away.
She has made an outstanding record
in Watertown which is a subuit) of
Boston. She is the daughter of Capt.
and Mrs. C. W. Hallman.

Given To Laurens
The old J. L. M. Irby home at Lau-
| rens had been given to the city by

Recently utilized as a public play-

The wedding of Miss Helen Barker
to Dewey Oxner was held at 3 o’clock
at the home of the bride, December
10 in the presence of a small group
of relatives and friends. The Rev. C.
J. Sexton conducted the ritual.
Miss Joanne Barker, sister of the
bride, sang “O Promise Me," and
during the ceremony organ music of
*T Love You Truly" was played.
The bride wore a navy suit with
white accessories and wore a shoul
der corsage of white rosebuds.
The bride’s mother wore a biege
dress with brown accessories and a
corsage of pink carnations.
Mrs. Oxner, mother of the bride
groom, wore a gray suit with black
accessories, her shoulder corsage be
ing white carnations.
Alter a wedding trip to Aufutfta,
Ga.. they are making their home
with the bride’s parents.
