For Visitors
Honoring Mrs. Don Winslow of
Bloomington, Ind., and Mrs. Larry
Swift of Des I^oines, Iowa, who are
visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs.

entertained a few friends informally
on Friday evening.
Pink and white gladioli were ar
tistically arranged at vantage points
in the home for the occasion. During
the evening a salad course and fruit
cake were enjoyed,

Century Club
Holds Meeting
The regular meeting of the Cen
tury chib was held Tuesday after
noon at the home of Mrs. M. A. Mac
donald.
Mrs. H. E. Sturgeon was in charge
of the program and gave a review
of "The White Witch Doctor” by
Louise Stinetorf. Fifteen members at
tended the meeting.
Jackie Truluck
Gives Party
Jackie Truluck entertained with a
party Saturday evening at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. S.
Truluck.
About twenty boys and girls,
members of Jackie’s class in school,
were invited for the occasion and
enjoyed a variety of games. The New
Year motif was carried out in party
appointments and during the even
ing punch and cookies were served.
Joint Hostesses For
Informal Gathering
On Friday morning Mrs. Torn Ad
dison and Mrs. Carlisle Neely were
co-hosteeses to a few friends for cof
fee at the home otf the former.
A delightfully informal hour was
enjoyed during which sandwiches,
cake, nuts and other dainties were
served buffet style with coffee. The
prettily appointed refreshment table
carried out the holiday motif which
prevailed throughout the home.
Elio Riddell Circle
Hos January Meet
The January meeting of the Ella
Riddell Circle of Thomwell Memor
ial church was held on Tuesday
morning with Mrs. M. A. Macdonald.
In the Absence of the chairman,
Mrs. A. E. Richardson, Mrs. Vsrins
F. Betsill presided. Mrs. M. A. Mac
donald gave the program which con
sisted of a Bible study on the 14th
chapter of John and an outline of the
Foreign Mission study for January.
The meeting was opened and closed
with sentence prayers.

Trulucks Give
Family Dinner
During the holiday season Mr. and
Mrs. R. S. Truluck assembled mem
bers of their family for dinner.
Cards in humorous caricature of
each guest, which were drawn by
Rembert Truluck, Jr. t marked the
places. Adorning the table were mag
nolia leaves with tall tapers. A tur
key dinner was served and later gifts
were exchanged from the Christmas
tree.
Guests for the occasion included

Mrs. Harry Williams of Charlotte,
N. C.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scruggs,
Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Hannah,

Mrs. Henderson
Is Bridge Hostess
Mrs. Caldwell Henderson gave a
dessert bridge recently for members
of her card club.
Two tables were laid for refresh
ments and fruit cake and coffee were
served before the games. Mrs. Dar
win Sessions, a club guest, was pre
sented high score award at the con
clusion of the progressions.
As a background for cards the hos
tess home was beautifully decorated
in the holiday motif using the tra
ditional greens, berries and tapers in
artistic array.
Demonstration Club
Holds Meeting
The December meeting of the
Wadsworth Home Demonstration
club was held at the home of Mrs.
L. D. Easterlin with the president,
Mrs. D. L. Monroe, calling the meet
ing to order.
Mrs. Roy Crawford had charge of
the devotional. All members then
joined in singing ‘‘O Come, All Ye
Faithful”. During the social hour
gifts were distributed from the love

members. Fruit cake and coffee was
served.

Miss Hartline Weds
Mr. Scogin
Miss Betty Virginia Hartline be
came foe bride of William Arthur
Scogin on Saturday evening, Decem
ber 23rd at S o'clock at the home of|
tue Rev. J. E. Rouse, the bride's pas
tor, who officiated, using the double
ring ceremony.
The bride wore a blue suit of gab
ardine with navy accessories.
Mrs. Scogin is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. R. L. Hartline of Laurens
and is now a student at Laurens high
school.
Mr. Scogin, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
W. T. Scogin of fois city, is a grad
uate of Clinton high school and prior
to going into service was connected
wfth the T. C. Johnson company. At
present he is stationed at Fort Jack-
son with the U. S. ground forces.
