Presiding over the business hour was
the president, Mrs. J. M. Ross, who
opened the meeting with the singing
of a hymn. The worksheet was read,
minutes approved, and routine bus-,
iness discussed.
The topic of the program was “Be
Still And Know That I Am God”,
presented by Mrs. Olivia Abrams.
The worship center was in keeping
with the program and the Christmas
season, the poster of the month be
ing a worship scene of silent medi
tation. Those assisting Mrs. Abrams
on the program were Mesdames
Frank TYotter, Eugene Bishop and
B. C. Flow.
The hostesses, Mrs. John Ross, Mrs.
Ed Hunnicutt and Mrs. Luke Clark
served cranberry salad, wafers, cup
cakes and coffee.
Christinas Party at Baptist Church
The W. M. S. of the Baptist church
held their December meeting last
Tuesday evening at the church with
twenty-six members present. Mrs.
James Mitcheil presented an unusual
program. The topic was “Wings For
The Gospel,” and the assembly room
was decorated in airplanes. Mrs. Alex
Crawford gave “Would You Like to
Take a Plane Ride," and “Why Jfot
Wings of the Gospel” by Mrs. Louis
Murphy. The program was dismissed
by Miss Etta Adams giving “Seeing
Side of Christmas.”
Preceding the program, a colored
film on “The Annunciation” was
shown and a solo, “O, Holy Night”
was rendered by Mrs. Roife Clarke,
accompanied by Mrs. Carson Nabors
at the piano.
During the social hour refresh
ments were served by the hostesses.

The gaily decorated Christmas tree
was laden with gifts which were ex
changed among the members.

The Blue Stocxings, in sailing to
five straight victories in the opening
stages of the 1950-51 cage season,
have churned out 419 points for an
average 84 points per game. That’s a
hefty margin over the 307 total and
61-point average turned in by the
opposition.
Three of these foes have been
Southern Conference teams. The
Hosemen turned the wind on Fur
man’s Hurricane crew twice, the last
time by a healthy 97-73 count, and
nosed past powerful Clem son 78-76,
Other wins came at the expense of
Lenoir-Rhyne (70-58) and Columbia
Theological Seminary (102-49).

A three-act play entitled “The For

the marriage of their daughter, Dor
othy Virginia, to Hugh J. Davis, Jr.,
of Laurens. The vows were spoken
at the Baptist parsonage in Laurens
by Rev. Cochran.
The bride wore a chocolate brown
gabardine suit with beige and brown
accessories.
The young couple are making their
home with the bride’s parents in
Joanna at present.
