Episcopal Women Organize Auxiliary, Have Guest Speaker A meeting of the recently or ganized Women’s Auxiliary of All Saints Episcopal church was held on Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Newton Jones. A devotional on prayer was giv en by Mrs. Alec Stump. Mrs. I. A. Triveley, of Clemson, director of the Women’s Auxiliary of the West ern Convocation of South Caro lina was the guest speaker and led an interesting discussion on organ izing an auxiliary. Following the program a social hour was enjoyed and the hostess served refreshments. Officers of the auxiliary are: President—Mrs. R. B. Hellams. Secretary and Treasurer—Mrs. Michael Turner. Program Chairman—Mrs. J. B. Hart. Devotional Chairman—Mrs. John S. Glover. Offering chairman—Mrs. E. N. Sullivan. Koty-Wolker Wedding Solemnized In Columbia Church Miss Elizabeth Marie Koty of Co lumbia, and Dr. James Lucas Walk er of this city, were married at 5:30 p. m., Saturday evening in the First Baptist church of Columbia, with Dr. Robert E. Naflor, pastor, officiat ing at the single ring service. Palms, greenery, white gladioli, and white candles in carthedral can delabra decorated the church. M. Berry, organist, presented a program of music. Serving as ushers were Dr. Charles F. Crews and Haskell Johnson, both of Columbia; James Culbreath, John Strother and J. Ernest Boatwright, Jr., brother-in-law of the bridegroom, all o< Jonnston; David Walker of Easley, cousin of the bridegroom; David Wright of Sumter and Dr. C. A. Dufford of Newberry. . Miss Jean Serio of Columbia, was maid of honor and Mis. William T. Dawson (Gretchen Gayden) of Co lumbia and Columbus, Ga., matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Eliza beth Walker of Johnston and Charleston, Mrs. J. E. Boatwright, Jr., (Margaret Walker) of Johnston, both sisters of the bridegroom, and Miss Jane Durham of Columbia. All the attendants wore short pink dresses fashioned with strapless bod ices of faille taffeta, double tiered bouffant shirts of net, and stoles of pink imported French lace. Given in marriage by her brother, Ernest Lee Koty, Jr., the bride wore a candlelight satin dress made with sweetheart neckline edged with seed pearls and iridescent sequins, modi fied leg-o’-mutton sleeves ending in points over the hands, full skirt and cathedral length train. Her mid shoulder length veil of imported silk illusion fell from a calot of candle light satin. The bride wore a strand iof pearls, and carried a double cas cade of white roses and tuberoses. - Benjamin T. Boatwright, Jr., of Johnston, was best man. Following the ceremony a recep tion was held at the Woman’s club. Mrs. Koty, mother of the bride, wore an aqua crepe dress with matching Chantilly lace bodice, long aqua gloves and a corsage of bronze orchids. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Walker, wore a black rose crepe dress and a purple orchid corsage. During the evening the couple left for a wedding trip North, the bride* changing to a Boy Blue velveteen suit, mauve pink felt hat with match ing gloves, and black accessories. She wore a corsage of mauve pink cymbidium orchids and carried a silver-blue muskrat coat. The couple will occupy the B. F. Wingrd home for the preent. Mrs. Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lee Koty, was graduated from Columbia high school and the University of South Carolina where rority and Beaux Arts. For several years she has been with the society and magazine sections of The State, and was a member-elect of Les De moiselles. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs., George Dawson Walker of Johnston, and the late Doctor Walker. He was graduated trom Wofford college, Spartanburg, where he was a mem ber of Kappa Alpha fraternity, and from the Medical College of South Carolina, Charleston. Docter Walk er served one year of rotating in ternship and a year of residency in internal medicine at the Columbia hospital, and is now doing general practice here. Letter to The Editor Writes of Spelling of Christmas Mr Editor: I heartily agree with your editor ial on the spelling of Christmas. At the parade last Thursday I think it was spelled both ways, when the clowns came along between the beautiful floats, which had taken much thought, time and money; the clowns spelled it Xmas, the floats Christmas. I think the clowns would be good for a Dollar Day parade or something of the kind, but not among Christmas carols. Why don’t the floats carry their sponsor’s name up high in large let ters so that ones on the sidewalk will know to whom credit should be giv en? —A SUBSCRIBER Sigma Mu Accepts 40 P. C. The students were formerly members of the Alpha Lamba Tau, local fraternity, that pe titioned for a charter and were ac cepted into the national organiza tion.
