Inform and urge farmers to take advantage of get ting 3000 pine tree seedlings by pay ing express charges. Recommend treating all pine used for fence posts. Urge farmers to study marketing and have more than one person to submit prices on material. P.M.A. Committee Election For 1931 H. A. Ropp, county administrative officer, PMA has mailed notices from his office, giving dates, places and I time of the holding of elections by, the community committees to elect the 1951 community committeemen and county delegates. All farmers are requested to take part in this election. Promote seeding and planting of bicolor for feed for wild life. Recommend that psople with fish ponds follow recommended prac tices. Urge pond owners* to provide suitable feed and protaction for mi gratory ducks and use all means possible to prevent shooting as ducks return to their native area in the spring The committee on Animal Hus bandry submitted the following re- i commendations: Urge cattlemen to establish sufficient pasture before buying cattle. Use recommended amounts of lime and fertilizer in es- tablishing and maintaining pastures and manage properly to produce maximum growth. Continue coopera tive orders of T.VA. ammonium ni trate for top dressing grazing. Use good type bulk to improve quality of cattle. Encourage 4-H and FT.A. members m beef production. Conduct educational program on control of I Bangs' and other contagious and in- | fectious diseases. Urge growers to j control external and internal para- ' sites in their herds. Use grazing crops to increase hog production in the county for home use or market ing. Suggest that plans for organ izing a county livestock producer’s association be considered. Conduct beef cattle tours and field day. Poultry Recommendations Buy good healthy chicks from re liable hatchefy. Feed sufficient amount of a balanced ration. Utilize home grown grains as much as pos sible. Use proper sanitation practices to control and prevent disease and parasites. Seed sufficient grazing crops for poultry for egg production. Strict and fr^uent culling of laying flocks. Do not overcrowd in houses and furnish sufficient waterers and feeders. Broiler growers should make arrangements for marketing before putting in chicks. Select proper breed or type for the purpose of wh;ch grown. Proper handling and use of manure for fertilizer value. Similar ecommendations apply to turkeys. Peach Recommendations Set out only healthy trees of re commended varieties. Select site and soil type. Prepare land well and set trees on slopes on contours. Apply liberal amount of fertilizer according to recommended practices. Removal of all abandon and diseased trees. Consider labor available for fruit production. Use proper method of pruning. Seed cover crops as soil conservation practice and for graz ing. Treat trees for trunk borers ac cording to recommended practices. Study market conditions with refer ence to ripening period. Close check ing for early iniestation of insects and spray for control of insects and diseases, according to recommended practices. Thin fruit properly for proper sizing. Harvest and handle fruit properly.
