S. C. Farmers
Urged To Turn
To Woodlands
"I Was So Nervous

Scolf's Gove Relief'
Columbia, S. C , Nov. 26—Now
that all field crop work is finished,
South Carolina farmers can turn
profitably to timber harvesting.
Clemson extension forestry Spe
cialist C. W. Hall today suggested
farmers with marketable timber
should:
1. Control woods fires. i
2. Begin improvement cuttings and j
thinnings.
3. Sell trees at highest prices.
4. Use labor available during win
ter months.
“To make farm woodlands bring
the most income,” Hall advised,
"each tree should be cut for what
ever product brings the best price.
Don’t cut good pine trees for, fuel-
wood. Don’t cut pulpwood from fine
young sawtrmber. Check your timber
market before cutting.”
More than 40 per cent of the wood
land in South Carolina is owned by
farmers. Hall noted
