Linda Ray Sabens has chicken pox.
Friends of Mrs. D. C. Whitman are
sorry to know she is a patient at Hays
hospital where she underwent an
operation Tuesday.
Mrs. Frank Lyda is improving after
an illness.
Maxie Wallenzine is suffering with
a broken foot.
Mark McWhorter is suffering with
a broken arm he received in a fall
last week and tiso has chicken pox.
John Campbell has been ill several
days.
Frances Ballew is ill.
J. Warren Crain is recuperating
at Kays hospital after an appendec
tomy on Saturday.

street. About twenty-five girls and
boys roasted weiners and marshmal
lows over an open grill on the lawn.
Favorite records were played which
added much to the outing.
The union is growing under the
leadership of Mrs. J. W. Spillers.

Mr. Osborne Honored
Miss Nellie Osborne entertained at
a surprise birthday dinner in honor
of her father, J. P. Osborne, who was
celebrating his 67th birthday on Sun-
; day a.t their home on Washington
^street.

Mrs. Purcell Honored
A surprise birthday party was giv
en in honor of Mrs. D. D. Purcell at
the home of Mrp. Roy Cannon on
Friday evening in celebration of her
76th birthday. A number of games
were played, after which the hostess

Cannon, served refreshments.
Later in the evening Mrs. Purcell
was presented numerous gifts.
Mrs. Campbell Honored
Mrs. Joe Campbell was honored
with a surprise dinner on the oc
casion of her birthday Saturday eve
ning at the home of Miss Nellie Os
borne by members of her Sunday
school class.
Throughout the home there were
arrangements of fall flowers. Mrs.
Campbell was presented a lovely
crystal bowl with nand painted dod-
wood blossoms.

stalled to the regular duties of their
respective offices for the coming
conference year .
Before the installation service a
short church conference will be held
for the purpose of electing a steward
to fill a vacancy on the board and to
take care of other business before
the congregation.
This is an important service to
which all members of the church are
invited, the pastor has announced.
PC Professor Writes

A Presbyterian college professor,
the Rev. T. Layton Fraser, is the
author of a "best-seller” Bible work j
book course.
Mr. Fraser’s work, entitled ‘‘With)
Savior and Friend," has recently been
translated into Spanish and publish
ed under Mexican copyright. It is
now being used by all Protestant de
nominations in Mexico and Central
America in Bible and Sunday schools.
Another work book authored by
Mr. Fraser, "God and His People,”
is now being translated into Spanish
At present he is preparing another
work book. "Winning the World,” as
a third companion.
His. first work book yvas written
while he was pastor for intermediate
departments in churches. More than
10,000 were seld in all states in the
nation.
Professor Fraser is professor of
Bible at the college.
