son bade the guests good-bye.
During the evening the bride and
groom left for a wedding trip to an
undisclosed destination. For travel
ing the bride wore a green and
brown tweed suit with forest green
blouse, brown accessories, and the
orchid lifted from her bridal bou
quet.
The bride is the only daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Christopher
Adair. Her mother is .the former
lard and Miss Ann Owens of this Miss Luella Leaman of Greenwood,
city. The attendants’ dresses were
hyacinth blue satin and taffeta in
a period gown featuring a low-cut
neckline forming folds across front,
pointed tight-fitted bodice, satin
draped apron front over full taffeta
skirt forming a bustle in the back.
With this were worn matching sat
in boleros, short mitts and pearls.
The honor attendants carried cir
cular bouquets of yellow chrysan
themums tied with yellow satin
ribbon and velvet cording. The
bridesmaids’ flowers were bronze
chrysanthemums tied with talis
man satin ribbon and velvet cord
ing.
Little Martha Whitten Brandt,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. J.
Brandt, of Ashboro, N. C., was flow
er girl and scattered rose petals in
the path of the bride. Her dress of
yellow taffeta was patterned after
that of the attendants, and worn
with matching short mitts.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, Robert Christopher
Adair, was lovely in her wedding
gown of antique white imported
Skinner satin, featuring a portrait
neckline, long pointed bodice with
self covered buttons in front, very
short sleeves with pointed cuffs and
long satin gloves ending in calla
lily points. The skirt was of folds
of satin ending in a long courtly
train. Her veil, caught at each side
with orange blossoms to form the
cap, was of Bryssells lace over a
train of bridal illusion. Her flow
ers were a bride’s bouquet of fea
thered carnations .centered with an
orchid. Her only ornament was
pearls and for something old she
carried an imported lace handker
chief belonging to Mrs. James
Moore, a cousin of York. The hand
kerchief was given by the bride to
Mrs. Moore when she served in her
wedding as a flower girl.
The bride’s mother wore aqua
lace over taffeta with matching ac
cessories and a purple orchid. Mrs.
David Satterfield, sister of the
groom, was gowned in emerald
green velvet with an orchid cor
sage.
Following the rites the bride’s
parents entertained with a recep
tion at Lakesidq country club for
the wedding guests.
Greeting the guests at the defer
were Dr. and Mrs. B. O. Whitten,
Mr. and Mrs. Silas Bailey, Mr. and
Mrs. I. M. Smith. Between the
door and receiving line were Mr.
and Mrs. J. B. Hart, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert M. Vance. In the receiving
line were in addition to the bride
and groom, the bride’s mother, the
groom’s sister, Mrs. Satterfield, and
the bride’s attendants.
Entertaining in the living room
were Col. and Mrs. Robert E. Wy-
sor, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Dillard, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert S. Owens, Mr. and
Mrs. Addison Neighbors, David Sat
terfield and Mrs. R. W. Wade. The
bride’s register was presided over
by Mrs. H. M. Wise and Miss Nan
cy Owens.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Johnson,
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Galloway, Mr.
and Mrs. J. F. Jacobs and Mrs. Wil
liam P. Jacobs invited the guests
ipto the dining room.
Entertaining in the dining room
were Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Adair, Mr.
and Mrs. W. C. Neely, Mr. and Mrs.
Bailey Williams, Mrs. James Pitts,
Mrs. John W. Little, Mr. and Mrs.
Goyne Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. W.
D. Crocker.
Throughout the club rooms the
traditional bridal theme prevailed
with floral arrangements and many
lighted tapers. The mantels bank
ed with magnolia leaves were ad
orned with modernistic arrange
ments of gladioli and chrysanthe
mums flanked by candles.
I The embossed bridal cake in
three tiers topped with a minia
ture bride and groom centered the
beautifully appointed table which
was overlaid with a cloth of green
organdy. A double frill of white
maline decorated with flowers out
lined thp reflector on which the
cake was placed. At each end of
the table tall tapers burned in five-
branched silver candelabra.

cended from the Adair and Young
families, pioneer families of Lau
rens county. She was graduated in
June from Winthrop college with
a B. S. degree in Home economics,
and is a member of Phi Upsilon
Omicron, national home economics
sorority.
The groom is the son. of Mr. and
Mrs. H. L. Crocker of Winston-Sal
em, N. C., formerly of Clinton. He
received his education in the
schools here, at Winston-Salem, and
at Oak Ridge Military Institute,
Greensboro, N. C. He attended the
University of North Carolina, Chap
el Hill, where he was a member of
Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. Mr.
Crocker is personnel director for
Clinton and Lydia Cotton Mills.

The marriage of Miss Virginia
Cofer Holmes, of Crewe, Virginia,
to Joseph Francis Fogarty, Jr., of
Savannah, Ga., and Joanna, took
place Saturday morning, October 7,
at a 10 o'clock nuptial mass in St.
Boniface church, Joanna.
The ceremony was performed by
the Rev. Father Gerald Ernst.
White chrysanthemums in gold
vases flanked the altar.
The bride given in marriage l by
her father, James Wendell Holmes,
wore a gown of magnolia satin and
rose point lace, scalloped off the
