White dahlias' embedded in stjuares of ice floated in the punch bowl. A buffet supper of salads, sand wiches, individual cakes and punch was served by Mrs Daisy Hairston, Mrs. Eunice Conn, Mrs. Virginia Satterfield, Mrs. Martha Bailey, Mrs. Mary Parrish and Miss Mary John son. Miss Adair received a gift of china in her chosen pattern. Special guests invited were Mrs. R. C. Adair, mother of the bride-to-be, and the teachers of Providence school. Take Part In Girls’ Play Day The South Carolina Recreation association sponsored a State Girls’ Play Day at the Johnson Hagood sta dium in Charleston Saturday. A group of girls, accompanied by th$ir leaders, Mrs. lone Wallace and Cal vin Cooper, went to Charleston and entered competition in sports with 200 girls from over the state. The program began with athletics con ducted by Miss Corinne Jones and Danny Jones. The Lydia girls took part in softball, volley ball, dodge ball and kick ball. Relay caces were held for both midgets and juniors. After a picnic lunch square dancing was enjoyed. A dance contest and songs ended the program. The groups were conducted on a sight seeing tour of Charleston. The girls making the trip from Lydia were: Donaree Cauble, Betty Sanders, Carolyn Roof, Barbara Todd, Barbara McCravy, Reba Pet- terson, Elaine Crocker, Joyce Todd, Betty Lou Parrish, Carol Mills, Pat Davenport, Patsy Fuller, Millie Al len, Ella Jane Allen, Lilly Belle Crawford, Myra Robertson, Mabel Birch, Peggie Patterson and Mary Jane McLendon. Community Council Organized A Community Council was organ ized Wednesday night at the com munity center. Representatives from each club and organized group in the community were present and the following officers were elected: Miss Mary Johnson, president; W. R. Cauble, vice-president; Mrs. Martha Bailey, secretary and treasurer. The next meeting is to be held Decem ber 4 at 7:30 o’clock.
