Touchdown Club Is Organized, Officers Elected The first meeting of the newly formed “Touchdown club” was held on Tuesday evening in the college dining hall. The club, whose purpose is to pro mote and support young athletes i and athletic programs in the Clin- j ; ton area, has about 75 members. Meetings will be held the second j and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Officers elected were: President—C. W. Anderson. Vice-President—James T. Addi son. Soc.-Treas.—Claude A. Crocker. Brief talks were made by coaches of the little four football teams who with their assist infs were .special guests: Johnny McMillan of Erskine, Lou . McCollough of Wofford, Tuck McConnel of Newberry and L. S. McMillian of P. C. A movie of the Wofford-Citadel game last year was shown. Clinton football officials present who demonstrated their work were W. G. King. Jr., W. S. Horne, L. S. Reddick, D. S. Templeton and S. A. Timmons. * i Local Women Attend Conference Eleven members of the Women-of- the-Church from three Presbyterian churches here attendd the Presbyte rian group four confernce at Joanna on Thursday. Mrs. W. M. Workman of Newberry, is chairman of the confei'ence and Mrs. J. M. Bozard is president of the hostess group. The theme of the meeting was “Let Us Go Forth From Our Knees For Christ.” Talks were made by Mrs. W. P. Jacobs, president of the Pres- byterial, and Mrs. Robert E. Wysor, chairman of the World Mission board. Mrs. Hubert Boyd, president i of the First Presbyterian church j organization, and other organization presidents gave the plans of each j church for visitation evangelism. Others from here attending were Mrs. Harry Wilkes, Mrs. Carroll : White Copeland, Mrs. George Brock- 1 enbrough, Mrs. Thomas Baldwin, Mrs. W. R. Turner, Mrs. James S. Gray. Mrs. Horace Smith repre sented the Lydia church and Mrs. E. E. Barbee Rock Bridge. Lt. Hartford C. Eve Killed In Kora Beaufort, Sept. 27—Official notice was received here today of the death} of 1st Lt. Harford C. Eve, Jr., U. S. Army, who was killed in action in Korea September 16. Lieutenant Eve, a native of Beau fort, served five years during World War II and was recalled to active duty in the first draft after the out break of the Korean war. His wid ow, the former Maron Summer of Columbia, and an infant daughter, (Geraldine, will return by plane from Japan where they have been mak ing their home. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harford Eve of Beau fort; four sisters, Mrs. Hardee Mc Leod and Mrs. J. D. Horne, both of Beaufort, Mrs. Robert Trollinger of j Atlanta and Mrs. Maurice Brown (of Deland, Fla., and two brothers, Pinckney Eve of Petersburg and Paul Eve of Wichita Falls, Texas. Mrs. Eve, wife of Lt. Eve, is a sis ter of Miss Colie Summer of Clin ton.
