orial Southern Methodist Church
Sunday Evening
A special service will be held at
Bailey Memorial Southern Methodist
church Sunday evening commencing
at 7:30 o’clock. At this time Rev.
Paul Lehman, a member of the South
Carolina Conference of the Southern
Methodist church, and recently ac
cepted as a member of the European
Evangelistic Crusade, will be the
guest speaker. He is being sent out
under the auspices of the Southern
Methodist 'church of_ this state as
one of its missionaries" in the foreign
service of the church. He is making
his last appearance in all of the
churches of the conference before
sailing on October 16. He and his
family will live in Florence, Italy,
this being the central place in the
territory where he has been appoint
ed to work.
The European Evangelistic Cru
sade is represented by all denomina
tions in the country, and the South
ern Methodist church of this area,
including South Carolina, Tennessee,
Alabama and Florida.
All members of the church are in
vited to be present next Sunday
evening and the general public is ex
tended a special invitation to be
present.

Missionary Society Meets With
Mrs. Harris
The Bailey Memorial Missionary
society met Tuesday at 7:30 in the
home of Mrs. Eland Harris.
The meeting was opened by sing
ing “Give of Your Best to the Mast
er.” The devotions were given by
Miss Marie Weir from Luke 16:1-14
and Leviticus 1:5, after which she
read an article on the thought, ‘tfle
Gave the Best He Had,” closing with
prayer,
The lesson for the evening on
Stewardship, was* given by Mrs.
Marvin Stewart. She gave a chapter
from the book entitled, “The Larger
Stewardship,by Charles A. Cook.
The treasurer’s report was given
by Mrs. Louis Lyles and the roll
was called by Patsy Cunningham,
each one responding with a Bible
verse.
The society voted to give to the
support "*of their missionary family,
the Rev. Paul Lehmans. Plans were
discussed in reference to the home
coming on Sept. 24. Each family of
the church'is asked to furnish a pic
nic dinner and each member of the
society to bring one dozen each of
paper cups and plates, also plastic
spoons and forks.
