No New Polio Coses
Reported In County
Special to The Chronicle.
Columbia, Aug. 15.—Through Aug
ust 11, Laurens county has reported
no new polio cases since two cases
recorded in the county during
July, the total for the county since
the beginning of the year, Dr. G. E.
McDaniel, director of the prevent
able diseases division of the state
board of health, said this week.
The number of infantile paralysis
cases this year in South Carolina to
tal 214 as of August 11. Charleston
county has had the largest number
of cases, with 85 polio victims re
ported there so far in 1950. Berkeley
county, which has had 11 cases, is
second in the prevalence of the dis
ease.

C. T. (Dad) Estes, 76, died in a hos
pital in Charleston Friday after an
illness of several months. Mr. Estes
was a member of the Duke Street
Baptist church in Ninety-Six, where
he had ben living for the past sev
eral years with his daughter, Mrs.
F. W. Green.
Funeral services were held Sunday
at 3 o’clock at the Duke Street Bap
tist church, Ninety-Six, conducted
by the Rev. B. J. Iver, the Rev. J. P.
Duckett and the Rev. L. H. Elliott of
Ninety-Six and the Rev. Ben Daven
port. Interment was in the Colum
bia Baptist church cemetery near
Princeton.
He is survived by seven daughters,
Mrs. Daniel Smith, Mrs. F. W. Green,
Mrs. Judson Burden of Ninety-Six;,
Mrs. Robert Christian of Pineville,
N. C.; Mrs. Jonah Brown of Honea
Path; Mrs. C. S. James of Woodruff,
and Mrs. Rufus Mills of Clinton; two
son«, James of Ninety-Six, and Ar-
v Greenville.
