The switch was thrown yesterday
aiternoon (Wednesday) at o’clock
providing telephone service to ov
er 300 families of the Joanna com
munity. The public was cordially
inv.ted and the room was packed
with interested residents for the long
anticipated phone installation for
the community.
J B. Hart, treasurer of Joanna
Mi s, presided and welcomed the
gathering and paid tribute to the
Men’s-club, Public Service Commis
sion and Southern Bell Telephone
company for their joint efforts in
bringing the much needed service
to the community.
J. M. McAlister of Columbia,
manager of the Southern Bell com
pany responded to the welcome ex
tended his company.

In Little Leaguers
Joanna Little Leaguers continue
to set a very hot pace in their league
by defeating Thornwell and Florida
Street during the past week. Lydia
, and Academy won one and lost one
last week, while Thornwel} lost two
and Florida Street one.
The Little League is behind three
games to date. Academy and Lydia
1 have a protest to replay. Thornweli
and Academy have a double-header
with the Little Leaguers and Midgets
that was rained out. Joanna and
i Florida Street have one rained out
game to play.
In about two weeks the managers
i of all the Little League teams will
meet and select about 25 players to
try out for the Little League all-star
team that will represent Clinton in
the State Little League tournament
which will be held in Florence this
year starting July 31 and ending
August 4. Efcch team will have to
lose two games in the state tourna
ment before being eliminated. Only
14 Little Leaguers will be able to
make the all-star team that goes to
Florence.

Little Bobby Fulmer
Passes At Hospital
Bobby Hugh Fulmer, four-year old
son of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Fulmer,
died Tuesday at Blalock clinic after
a short illness.
Funeral services were held yester
day afternoon at Sandy Springs
’ Methodist church, with the Rev. J.
jL. Ashley officiating. Interment fol-
| lowed in Rosemont cemetery at New
berry.
The lad is survived by his adopted
! parents, Lonnie and Mrs Clara Craft
Fulmer and a number of relatives.
