Pitts-McGee Wedding
Lost Evening A
Lovely Church Event
Of wide social interest here and
elsewhere, was the wedding of Miss
Jean Carolyn Pitts and Mr. Joseph
William McGee which took place
last evening at eight o'clock at
Broad Sti eet_ Methodist church. The
Key. P. L. Baukrhght officiated in
the presence of a Targe assemblage
of relatives and friends.
Pulms and fern were used as a
background for floonbaskets of dai
sies and tall burning tapers in can
delabra arranged bn either side of
a brass cross.
Mrs. James Ferdinand Jacobs,
Miss Barbara Workman, mezzo so
prano, Miss Jean Copeland, soprano,
furnished the wedding music. Prior
to the ceremony Miss Workman sang
i"Liebestraum” and Miss Copeland
' sang “Because." Mrs. Jacobs played
“Thru the Years". “Medley of old
fashioned love songs", and "Indian
Love Call." The traditional wedding
marches were used and during the
'ceremony “Traumerei'’ was softly
played
Usher groomsmen were Murphy
Timmerman, Browning Dicus, Paul
Martin and Harry Baldwin.
Miss Myra Adair was maid of hon
or. She wore a gown of mint green
organza designed with a strapless
bodice and short cape and long full
skirt, with self trimming and mat
ching mitts. She wore daisies in
her hair and carried a yellow bask
et of daisies. ,|
Mrs. Paul Martin, sister of the
bride, was matron of honor. She
wore a gown identical to the maid
of honor and her flowers were the
same. —-
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Robert
Grube of Davidson. N. C., and Miss
Joan Evans of Lexington, cousins
of the bride.

Junior bridesmaids were
P'itts and Jackie Pitts sisters of the
bride. They wore gowns similar
to the maid of honor and also car
ried yellow baskets of daisies.

Pitts, was exquisite in her wedding
gown of ivory satin fashioned with
tight bodice extending in points ov
er the net yoke, long sleeves with
diamond open work effect extend
ing the whole length," and a full
skirt and aisle wide train. Her long
Chantilly lace was worn with a cor-
veil of imported illusion edged with
onet of seed pearls. She carried a
prayer book adorned with a white
orchid.
Louis Cox of Belton, cousin of the
, bride-groom, was best man.
Mrs. Pitts, mother of the bride,
wore pink nylon lace with a blue
delphinum corsage. Mrs. McGee,
mother of the bride-groom was
'gowned in evening blue lace and
wore a corsage of gardenias.
Immediately after the ceremony
Mrs. Pitts entertained at a recep-
ition honoring the bride and bride
groom. Greeting the guests were
! Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Cooper, Mrs.
Frances Warner introduced the
guests to the receiving line. Receiv
ing with Mrs. Pitts were the bride
and bride-groom, Dr. and Mrs. Mc
Gee. the brides’ attendants, Mrs.
J. L. Scarborough, grandmother of
the bride, Mrs. W. Glenn McGee,
and Mrs. J. B. Campbell, grand-
| mothers of the bridegroom and Mr.
and Mrs. Hubert J. Pitts.
In the dining room the exquisite
ly appointed bride’s table, covered
'with a white floor length organdy
'cloth was centered with a triple
tiered decorated and embossed wed
ding cake, bearing the emblems of
fate on tiny white satin ribbons.
Gardenias and fern were arranged
around the cake and crystal can
delabra adorned with flowers and
fern and holding tall white burn
ing tapers “were placed «t either end
of the table. On the credenza was
a large arrangement of white glad
ioli, daisies and snapdragons.
Throughout the living room and
music rooms daisies, roses and gar
denias w r ere attractively arranged.
Serving lime sherbert and indiv
idual decorated cakes were: Mrs.
Thomas Baldwin, Mrs. Abit Alex- 1
ander, Miss Katherine Dicus and
Miss Betty Taylor.
Receiving and entertaining in the
various rooms were: Mr. and Mrs.

During the evening the bride and
bridegroom left for a wedding trip.
For travel the bride wore an ivory
sharkskin suit with light green
blouse, multi-colored shoes and bag,
cocoa brown hat and a corsage of
yellow roses.
Mrs. McGee is the daughter of
Mrs. James Milton Pitts, Jr., and
the late Mr. Pitts. She is a grad
uate of Clinton High School and
attended Winthrop college for two
years and is a young woman of
unusual charm and attractiveness !
of personality. She holds a position i
with the Industrial Supply company
of this city.
Mr. McGee is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. R. H. McGee. He is a graduate
of Clinton high school and is a phar
macy student at the South Carolina
Medical college. After September
the young couple will reside in
Charleston.
