Mrs. W. M. Shields was hostess for a dessert bridge the past week. A sweet course was enjoyed before the games, five tables being in play during the afternoon. The card rooms were attractive with artistic arrange ments of shrubs and flowers. At the conclusion of the progressions Miss Francine Wickham was presented a gift ifor having won top score. city. Birthday Party For Mrs. Simpson Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Taylor and Lewis D. Simpson entertained Mrs. Simpson with a surprise birthday party Saturday evening at the Tay lor home. The living and dining rooms were decorated in spring flowers. When all the guests gathered they sang “Hap py Birthday” to Mrs. Simpson and a shower of gifts was presented her. A delightful four course chicken din ner was served with spiced tea. Games and dancing were enjoyed during the evening by the sixteen friends pres ent. Bridge Club Enjoys Meeting Mrs. H. M. Lukstat was hostess for two tables of bridge ofl. Thursday af ternoon guests being members of her club. The tables were laid for refresh ments and pie a la mode and coffee were served before the games.^Later {during the afternoon salted nuts and cold drinks were enjoyed. High and second honors went to two club visi tors, Mrs. Roy Gasque and Mrs. John W. Finney, Sr., A bowl of lovely red camellias was used with other seasonal arrange ments as a background for cards. “Idle Moments^ Club Entertained Wednesday A charming party was given on last Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. Roy Pitts for members of the “Idle Moments” club and a few additional friends. The receiving rooms of the home were beautifully decorated with ar rangements of early spring flowers. Six tables were laid for rook and a j number of games enjoyed during the afternoon. Later the hostess served salad and sweet courses. Card Club Meets With Mrs. Hart Mrs. J. B. Hart was hostess to mem bers of her card club on Thursday at- ^temoon for a dessert bridge at her home at Joanna. Yellow jasmine with other flower ing plants of early spring made a pretty setting for the two tables. After a refreshment course several games were enjoyed with Mrs. Harry Wilkes and Mrs. Kenneth Baker prize winners. Mrs. W. A. Johnson Hostess To Club Thursday Mrs. Walter A. Johnson entertained members of her bridge club for a number of afternoon games. Holland gave a few hints on good citizenship. Miss Susan Hall demonstrated the many unique ways of covering lamp shades.
