As the guests assembled in the li
brary a knock on the door was heard
and Santa Claus came in t distribute
the gifts. An artistically wrapped
gift was presented to Harold Hairs
ton. When opened it proved to be
a pair of long red flannels, which
Mr. Hairston donned and wore dur-
iing the evening.
i From a beautifully laid table Mr.

fruit cake and coffee. About forty
guests enjoyed this lovely occasion.

the college annual. At the time of her
marriage she was teaching art in the
elementary schools of Blacksburg.
Mr. Smith attended the Ninety Six
schools and received his B.S. degree
in Business Administration at Pres
byterian college. He served three andj
a half years with the U. S. Army and
is now employed at Baldwin Motor
Company in this city, where he and
his bride will reside.
LOSES BROTHER
Friends of Mrs. C. N. Mauney will
sympathize with her in the death of
her brother, Charlie Swinnie, which
occurred Monday afternoon at his
home in Columbia. Mr. Swinnie, 55,
a retired grocer, was a native of
Chesterfield county, but had spent
moit of his He In Columbia.
