sales equivalent in amount
to double the appraisal.
Provided that upon com
pletion of ‘*the sales the
amount deposited as security

shall be applied by the
Town Clerk in the payment
of the license and any bal
ance then remaining shall
be refunded to the license.
. Provided, that if such ap
praisal shall not reduce the
amount of deposit required,
the excise thereof shall be
paid by the licensee in addi
tion to the license; but if re
duced, it shall be paid by
the Town.
Provided, further that if
at any time^during the sale,
the' gross amount of sales
shall reach an amount that
will require a license here
under in excess of the
amount deposited as security
for the license, it shall be
the duty of the licensee and
all ayents and employees
thereof to report such fact
forthwith to the Town Clerk
and to make a new deposit,
and a failure to do so shall
constitute a violation of the
ordinance, and the license
previously issued shall be
i revoked automatically with-
i out any action or notice
from any officer or agent of
I the Town, ana 1 the offender
or offenders shall suffer the
penalties provided in this
ordinance. for violation
I thereof; and the Town Clerk
' or Chief of Police, or other
officer or agent of the Town
shall have the right at all
timejs to make an investiga
tion of the business of the
license to determine the
facts with reference to the
license and shall have the
right to require sworn state
ments from thje licensee and
to an matter relating to his
employees or agents as the
| provisions of this ordinance
and any license or any
agent or employee of such
• licensee who shall fail to
f furnish any such informa
tion or*to give any sworn
statement upon proper re
quest or who shall make a
false statement with refer
ence thereto shall be a vio
lation of this ordinance and
the offender or offenders
shall suffer the penalties
provided for those who do

Provided, farther, that it
shall be unlawful and a vio
lation of this ordinance for
any person, firm or corpor
ation to add to any stocks
bought a.t sales under bank
ruptcy assingment for ben

bought for the purpose of
| selling out or liquidating the
same, and each addition to
such stock shall constitute a

ordinance, the Town of Clin
ton is hereby authorized to
presume the operation of
such machine or apparatus
is lawful, and when a license
has been issued for the op
eration thereof, the sum
paid for. such license shall
not be refunded notwith
standing that the operation
of such machine or appara
tus shall be prohibited.
It shall be the duty of the
persons in whose places of
business the machines are
operated o£ located, to see
that the proper Town license
is attached to the machine
be f ore its operation is com
menced. Failure to do so
will make such persons lia
ble for the penalties imposed
in this ordinance.
No machine shall be li
censed under this ordinance
unless such machine shall
bear a permanently attached
identifying serial number,
and in making application
for license under this sub
section, the applicant shall
specify the manufacturer’s
serial number of the ma
chine for wt*ich license is
desired The license shall
carry the serial number of
the machine and no license
shall be transferable.
