Retention Held For Teachers On Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock the members of tne Woman’s club enter tained at a reception in Honor of the iarulty of Academy Street school. Mrs. J. L. Arnold, president, and Mrs. J. V. Lowe, program director, invited the guests into the reception rooms. Dainty sandwiches ahd individual , cakes were served by Mrs. Ella Har vey. Mrs. J. C. Boyce. Mrs. R. M. , Sullivan, Mrs. J. W. Smith and Miss Nellie Osborne. Mrs. Grady Arnold and Mrs. Arthur Howard presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Grange . The president, Mrs. J. L. Arnold, presided over the business session The devotional was given by Mrs.; Joe Campbell, closing with all repeat- ! ing the Lord’s Prayer. The roll ’was called and minutes ! read by the secretary, Mrs. Frank; Hancock. Dues were collected by Mrs. Wooddell King. The guests came dress ed in Hallowe’en costumes and much fun arid excitement was had. A color scheme of orange and black was carried out with streamers that festooned the room. Autumn leaves in shades of orange, brown anfi gold formed the background for | th esetting of the Hallowe’en party. The most unique costume was worn by Mrs. John H. Holland as ‘‘Ferdi nand the Bull,” Mrs. Doris Moore as an Egyptian mummy, Mrs. Arthur Howard, Mrs. Winfred Norris an<H Mrs. William Wier as the three witches, Mrs. J. C.
