The Rev> W. P. Baldwin, with his
wife, the former Miss Clare Bedin-
ger, of Charlotte and Asheville,
will leave the coming week for a
year’s language study at Berkley,
California, before going to Japan as
missionaries. Mr. Baldwin, the son
of Mrs. W. P. Baldwin and the late
Mr. Baldwin, of Columbia, formerly
of tihs city, is an honor graduate of
the University of South Carolina,
Union Theological seminary in Rich
mond, Va., and received his master’s
degree at Princeton after serving as
chaplain in the navy. He resigned
the pastorate of the Presbyterian
church in Brevard, N. C., to enter
mission work.

The bride wore a white slipper
satin bridal gown fashioned Vith

sleeves were long, ending in calla

full skirt ended in a court train and
she carried a bouquet of white or

Donald Wells, who was celebrating
his eighth birthday on Friday, enter
