The Clinton Cavaliers lost all pen
nant winning hopes as they met and
went down before the league lead
ing Ware Shoals Riegals in a three
game series.
The Riegals have been a jinx to
Clinton all through the season as
Clinton has managed to win only
fiVe games from Ware Shoals in
eighteen meetings.
Riagals Win 5 to 4
In a game decided by home runs
the Riegals bested the Cavaliers
by tapping three home runs which j doesn't hurt a bit though
led up to their five runs.
Trailing one to five in the bottom
added up to their five

Columbia. S C — Gov J. Strom
Thurmond has confided to some
friends that he wit) formally announ
ce his candidacy for the United States
Senate m April or May of next year
The chief executive thinks perhaps
it will be better for him to wait un
til near the Democratic State Con
vention which comes about the mid
dle of May. to make his formal an
nouncement. it was reported.
On the other hand, however, some
observers insist that he actually
made his announcement soon after
he was elected governor in 1948
when he spoke to a group of Dem
ocrats here and devoted most of hn
talk to federal activities.
