The Clinton Little Leaguers, with
their coach, D. S. Templeton, and
other local fans, returned Saturday
morning from Charleston where the
youngsters fought their way to the
finals of the tournament and were
runner-up to the championship as
by the Garco team of Charleston. 7

one that downed the Clinton lads in
the preliminaries, their first defeat
way and rightly deserve the minia

The score of the clinching game
was deceiving, for the Garcoites had
to fight every inch of the way to
win it over Clinton.
Clinton scored in the last of the
first on Bob Pearson’s single, a hit
batter, a sacrifice, and a wild pitch.
It didn’t stay that way long as Garco
picked up a run in the next frame
on two hits.
Mrs. Mattie Henderson Dickens 8<
widow of the late John L. Dic«?r
died at her home in the Hope-Aell
section Sunday night affter several
years of declining health.
The funeral services, attended by
a large gathering of relatives, friends
and neighbors, were held Tuesday
