Clinton Bumps Riverdale Again
8 The Cavaliers began to realize their
8 pennant winning promises and took
j’: another game from the cellar dwell-
ing Riverdale crew. This time the
8 score totaled up to eight to one.

jit apiece, Clinton made their hits count
and also took advantage of seven Riv- j
erdale mishaps and errors.
Roy ..Whitaker spaced the River-
daler’s hits well and whiffed six bat-1
ters while allowing only one to reach
base by a walk. j
- Charlie Gaffney, Clinton’s towering
first baseman, held swat prizes by
blasting out a home run and two sin-
gles for four trips to the plate. Huff-
*** steller was the only other Clinton
man to get more than one hit. He
belted out a double and a single for
four times at bat.
Cavaliers Down League Leaders
The Clinton Cavaliers downed the
Central Carolina league leading Watts
Warriors by an eight to four score
and thus made their win streak come
to five games in a row.
Clinton’s new pitcher, Ed Leary,
flip'ped a no-hitter up until the sev
enth inning and then went on to give
the Warriors only five hits.
Although a small man, Leary, a
southpaw, has plenty on the ball and
is also qoite a man at tile stick as
he rapped out two singles for three
trips to the plate.
