An increase is shown in every category on a statewide basis. In Laurens county 8,086 automo biles were registered last month, as compared to 7,309 during the preced ing April. Last month 1,440 trucks. 59 trailers and 121 motorcycles were registered in the county, while in April a year ago the total figures were 1,254 trucks registered, 61 trail ers and 93 motorcycles. In the state as a whole 353,034 au tomobiles were registered during Ap ril according to the highway depart ment. The preceding April car reg istrations totalled 326,168, while the number of trucks registered was 80.- 633. This April 88.857 trucks were registered in South Carolina as well as 7,913 trailers and 6.215 motor cycles. -During April of 1948, the number of trailers and motorcycles registered were 7,358 and 5.327, res pectively. rifiicp in Worlcf War I and II.” The plaque was covered with tar paulin immediately after being erec ted and is to remain covered until the unveiling date. Musgrove Street Soldier Plaque Erected In Laurens On Public Square (From The Laurens Advertiser.) | The bronze plaque purchased through the efforts of Simpson-Med- lock Post No. 3354 and erected in honor of service men from Laurens county who lost their lives during World Wars I and II. arrived here Tuesday and was immediately plac ed in position on the Southwest cor ner of the public Square. Unveiling ceremonies are to take place at a date yet to be announced ( it was stated by C. W. Wier, chair-, man of the committee which raised 1 the funds. The plaque is built into a granite die approximately seven feet high and three feet broad at the base. The die has a laurel leaf symbolic of victory carved above the plaque and the following inscription below the plaque: “Erected by, Simpson-Med- lock Post No. 3354, Veterans of For eign War through the Cooperation of the Citizens of Laurens County. 1949.” On the plaque itself, which bears the names of 264 white and colored men who lost their lives during the two wars, appears the following in scription: • Erected in Loving Mem ory of the Men of Laurens County.
