Woman’s Society Meets
"Christ, the Answer in the Home,”
was the topic of the meeting of the
Woman’s missionary society of Cal
vary Baptist church Monday evening
at the church. The program was
led by the program chairman, with
Mrs. Ralph Riddle leading in prayer.
Mrs. R. B. Amick gave the scripture
from Deuteronomy 11, and Colos-
sians 3, and the following gave in
teresting talks on the home: Mrs.
R. L. Yarborough, Mrs. Grady Smith
and Rev. J. W. Spillers gave a talk
o "How We Can Make Our Homes
Better.” Closed with a hymn and
prayer.
The president, Mrs. Amick, had
charge of the business session, and
Mrs. Grady Smith, secretary, called
the roll and read the minutes of
the previous meeting.
After a business session plans
were made to pound a needy family.
The meeting was closed with prayer
by the pastor.
Mrs. Bertie Hodge and Mrs.. Laura
Mae Howard served sandwiches,
cookies and punch.

22 Drunken Drivers
Arrested In County
Special to The Chronicle.
Columbia, May 4. — A total of 22
driving privileges were withdrawn
in Laurens county last month, it
has been reported by H. E. Quarles,
Jr., director of the motor vehicle
division of the S. C. State Highway
Department. The suspensions were
all made on charges of driving un
der the influence of liquor, and all
of the offenders were male.
Of the Laurens county drivers
whose licensese were withdrawn
during Marcn, nine were in the 17
to 30 age grouping, eight were be
tween 30 and 40, and five were forty
years of age or older.
In the state as a whole, 527 driv
ing privileges were suspended, of
which 522 were on charges of drunk T
en driving and five on charges of
reckless driving.
