To the Voters
Of Laurens County:
,4
In announcinK as a candidate for the House of Rep
resentatives for Laurens County, I would like to say at
the outset that. I do not have, nor profess to have, any
Vnatric formula for curing all of the ills to which our
country is subjected. Neither do I have a multitude of
promises t<> make as to great accomplishments which I
intend to achieve, such as putting two cars in every
garage, a chicken in every pot, or of making every man
a king, all without expense.
I simply wish to say that I believe I have a sufficient
background of education and business experience to ren
der Laurens County some sane and sensible service in
the state legislature and that I am willing to render
such service if the people of-this county wish to elect^
me to this office. I am forty-five years of age and was
born and reared at Gray Court in Laurens County. I am
a graduate of a college and law school and for the past
twenty-one years have been engaged in the practice of
law, service in the national government, farming and
growing peaches.
I believe our county and state, should make every
effort, consistent with sound financial principles, to build
and improve more farm to market roads; encourage and
aid every home-owner and tenant to have electric power
and decent sanitation; improve our school systems and
increase the compensation of our teachers so that their
earnings wiM be in line with other professions of similar
importance: aifLand encourage new- industries to locate
in our county and be ready and willing to extend- finan
cial aid to any worthwhile projects of a governmental
nature which wttl make our countv
a
a better
which to live.
