* There are four definite reasonsi
which should carefully consider bc-l
fore further bidding up prices for
any kind of ireal estate. These rea
sons are as'follows: ,|
1. The upward trend in mortgage
indebtedness, which in some locali
ties is reaching a dangerous point.
2. Threats of surplus farm products
and even cretain manufactured goods
due to the present higher level of;
production.
,3. The recent uownward trend in
the buying power both of farmers
due to lower prices of farm products
and of tin.' industrial population due
to the increased cost of living.
4. The fact that a large proportion,
of the money now being sent to Eu-,

produce more products and manufac-l

the Laurens community hall.
The purpose of the South Carolina

which will pay a fair rate of inter

and this of course depends upon the

The federal reserve oank in Wash
ington is especially disturbed at the
continuous climb in mortgage loans,
on -city and town property. This is
}»obably due in part to the activity
of the federal loan and savings banks
m soliciting mortgages. Certainly this ,
should be curbed at the present time.
