The Jack J. Perry Greater Shows was host to the 280 children of Thorn well orphanage on Tuesday afternoon at their show grounds
on Buchanan fieid here. Through the kindness of the management at least six rides were enjoyed by each child The show played "open
house” to the children and everybody enjoyed the two horn's spent cn the grounds. At the conclusion of the entertainment refreshments
were served, consisting of drinks, popcorn ,etc.
Through the courtesy of W. T. Gastley of the Clinton Coach company, and Russell Cooper of Cooper Cab company, the children were
transported to the show grounds. ’
On Monday afternoon Darwin Brown, of Kalamazoo, Mich., known as “Brownie the Clown," entertained the small children at the Baby
cottage and the sick at Lesh infirmary. To top this gesture,* Mr. and Mrs. Brown and Cartton F. Winn, of the local Legion post, sponsors of
the show’s Clinton appearance, were guests of the institution for supper that night. At the conclusion of supper, Mr. Winn introduced
"Brownie” to the children, and he entertained them with his antics, jokes and tricks He then invited the entire Thornwell tamily to be
guests of the Perry- Shows on Tuesday afternoon.
Mr. Brown concluded his entertainment with a timely lecture toi the children, urging them to study hard, take every advantage offered,
be courteous and kind and follow the 0olden Rule.
The management of the show announces that on Saturday, from noon to 6 o’clock, all school children will be allowed free gate ad
mittance to the matinee. All prices on shows and rides will be -educed for rchool children. [
