Brenda Joyce Dalton is spending
the week with relatives at Calhoun
Falls.
Mrs. I. G. Lackey has returned to
her home in Columbia after a stay of
several days with her sister, Mrs. J.
A. Black, and Mr. Black.
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Davis spent
Sunday in Whitmire with the latter’s
brother-in-law, and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. J. C. Harmon.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Varner and sons
of Buffalo, were Sphday guests of
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Rogers.
Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Walker and
Bruce visited relatives in Honea Path
and Mr. and Mrs. W.
son of this community. Mr. Thrift!

the local hospital.
Birthday Party
Saturday afternoon twenty little
friends gathered at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Rex Harris to honor their
son, Charlie, who was celebrating
his sixth birthday. After an hour of!
fun refreshments of ice cream, cook
ies, candy and peanuts were served
by Mrs. Harris.
Charlie was remembered with a
gift from each guest. ,

The Teen-Age canteen will meet
Friday evening and the committee is
planning an evening of fun. All
teen-age girls and boys of the com
munity are invited—

Mrs. J. D. Witherspoon, county
nurse, held a follow-up clinic Mon
day afternoon. A number of children
came for their styots.
Miss Katherine Eihcelberger has
returned to her work after several
weeks of illness. Everyone is glad
to see her back.
The Girl Scouts-had their regular
meeting on Monday,, Tuesday and
Thursday afternoons. The kinder
garten has shown quite an increase
in attendance since spring has ar
rived. There are twenty children
enrolled and most of them are pres
ent every day. They are now work
ing on a daily schedule.

proval by the Governor on February
20, 1948, a SPECIAL ELECTION will
be held in Hunter School District No.
5 (interchangeably referred to as
SCHOOL DISTRICT HUNTER NO.
5), of LAURENS COUNTY, the
STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, on
Tuesday, the sixth day of April, 1948,
for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified electors of said School Dis
trict, the question:
'‘Shall the Board of Trustees of
Hunter School District No. 5, of
Laurens County, be empowered
to issue, either as a single issue
or from time to time as several
separate issues, bonds of said
School District to the amount of
not exceeding two hundred fifty
thousand ($250,000.00) dollars,
whose proceeds shall he expend
ed for additional school facilities
in said District^
The polling places fbr said election,
and the Managers of said election at

1. For Clinton Precinct, the polling
place shall be located at the City
