Community Chorus
To Name Officers
Monday Evening
Officers will be elected and formal
choral practice will begin at the
meeting of the Community Choral
society Monday evening, March 15,
at. 8 o’clock in the high school audi
torium, according to plans made at a
meeting on March 8.
Offices to be filled are president,
vice-president, corresponding secre
tary, recording secretary, treasurer,
and librarian.. Prof. Edouard Patte,
director of the glee club at Presbyte
rian college, will direct the singing,
and the Clinton Music club is spon
soring the organization.
At the last meeting, the first and
third Monday evenings were selected
for meetings and members were ask
ed to be prepared to contribute twen
ty-five cents to be used in ordering
music, this amount to be credited on
dues to be set by a finance commit
tee when the budget is completed.
At the conclusion of the business
meeting H. G. Prince directed the
group in singing a number of selec
tions, with Mrs. James Pitts accom
panying at the piano.

Martha Roy, of Laurens, freshman
student a/t Winthrop college, has
been named on the distinguished list
for the first semester, Winthrop of
ficials have announced.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.G.
Roy, of Laurens, Miss Roy is taking
a four-year commerce course for a
bachleor of science degree. She was
graduated from the Laurens high
school.
She is the granddaughter of the
late Dr. and Mrs. A, E. Spencer of
tnis city.

Miss Virginia Gray, daughter of
Mr. and Mas. L. Russell Gray of this
city; was elected president of the stu
dent body at Queens college, Char
lotte, Tuesday.
Miss Gray, a rising senior, who has
been active in campus affairs, is a
member of Phi Mu, social sorority,
