daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace
Thomas 6xner, of Kinards, became
the bride of Oscar Lloyd Jollay, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Leonard Jol
lay of Dillard, Ga., in a candlelight
ceremony at Little River-Dominick
Presbyterian church on July 22. Af
ter a wedding trip to the mountains,
at home
Mr. and Mrs. Jollay will be at home
in Newberry until September, when
they will go to Atlanta, Ga., where
Mr. Jollay is a student at Georgia
Tech.

At Lakeside Club
On Monday and Tuesday evenings
of last week Mr. and Mrs. J. J.
Cornwall entertained at Lakeside
country club with buffet suppers, in
viting about fifty guests for each oc
casion.
Decorating the spacious club rooms
were arrangements of gladioli and
zinnias. A low bowl of mixed sum
mer flowers adorned the center of
the supper table which was overlaid
with a linen cover.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom T. Taylor of
Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boyd
of Fountain Inn, were out of town
guests on Monday evening.

Celebrates Birthday

day afternoon at Lakeside country

Guests enjoyed “fishing” for prizes
and other outdoor games. The birth
day cake, decorated with candles,
which were molded ih the shape of
boys, was cut and served with ice
cream and punch. ,
Assisting Mrs. Blalock were Mrs.
Ashby Galloway, Mrs. J. D. Boland,
Jr., and Gene Wilkes, who was also
celebrating a birthday.

Complimenting two brides-eleet,
Mrs. J. H. Donnan and daughter,
Miss Miriam Donnan, were hostesses
for a morning party on Thursday.
Honorees were Miss Ann Donnan
Scott of Whitmire, who will be mar
ried this month to Hugh Boyd of
Chester, and tyliss Robbie King,
1 whose marriage to Alex Cruick-
shanks.III, will take place Saturday
evening.
Tables were arranged for progres
sive conversation, and hand-painted
cards designated the guests’ places.
Dufing the morning .cup towels,
which were later presented the hon
orees, were hemmed. Hand-painted
boudoir glasses wore also presented
the brides-eleet by the hostesses.
The home was lovely throughout
with summer flowers including dah
lias, gladioli, roses, iharigolds and

Honoring their daughter, Mary

entertained with a 'dance on Friday
evening at Lakeside country club, as
sembling a large number of the col
lege set.
Throughout the club rooms garden
flowers were effectively used for
decoration. On the mantels sprays
of magnolia were effective, and else
where gladioli were arranged. Bowls
of pastel-tinted flowers and sprays of
ivy adorned the bunch tables. Punch
was served throughout the evening.
