wondered why the water in- the
trough, flowing from a clear spring,
was so muddy. An animal, like unto
those that one ran violently down a
steep place into the sea, was lying
ip the spring. If life is to be pure,
the fountain must be pure and clear.
A young man is admonished to at
tend unto wisdom and listen not to
the honeyed words of a temptress,
lest he taste the bitterness of worm
wood at last. For such will vice bring
in the end. How beautiful is the pic-
i ture of a virtuous woman in the last
i chapter of Proverbs! It is not strange
| her children “call her blessed” and
j that-the heart of her husband “doth
safely trust in her.” Let such a wo-
i man guide her sons and bless her
! husband.
; The verses from James are instruc-
' live concerning the progress of sin.
j It springs from lust in the heart and
i it ends in death. How greatly, then,
; do men need a Saviour! Impotent in
i themselves to follow the words of
1 wisdom found in this lesson, they
can have pardoned and pure hearts
through faith in Jesus. *
