Wallace of Jalapa, di rected the guests to the sun room where punch was served by Mrs. W Informal Gathering Honors Bride-elect Among courtesies extended Miss Vivian Marion since the announce ment of her engagement tb N. C. Buford Wilson of Newberry, was the coca-oola party at which Mrs. J. M. Dick was hostess. The informal gathering, assembling a few friends of the bride-elect, took place last Wednesday morning. The hostess was assisted in serving Shasta and Admiral Byrd daisies in handsome arrangements were used throughout the receiving rooms. Gardenias with lighted tapers form ed the decoration for the beautifully appointed tea table. , Mrs. Galloway greeted th^ guests and presented them to the receiving lien composed of *the hostess, the honor guest, Mrs. R. THOMAS, Jeweler “It's Time That Counts” Mrs. Roscoe Edwin Treadwell, Sr., of Forsyth, Ga., was solemnized at the home of the bride’s parents near here Thursday, June 12. * The vows were spoken before an improvised altar of summer green ery, centered with Queen Anne’s Lace, and flanked on each side with baskets of white gladioli and cande labra. The double ring ceremony was performed by'Rev. Edward Long of Greenville, a former ’pastor of the bride. The bride and bridegroom entered the room together. The bride was attired in a dress J of aqua crepe with brown and white j accessories. She wore a purple or- i chid corsage off the left shoulder. I Miss Angela Hubbard of Clio, wearing an ashes of roses silk crepe dress with brown and white access- roies, was maid of honor, and the bride’s’ only attendant, while E. A. Bivings, Donaldsville, Ga., was the bridegroom’s best man. Miss Anne Sams, of Greenville, played the bridal chorus from-Rich ard Wagner’s Lohengrin, and Carl Bohm's “Calm as the Night,” as the nuptial music. Miss Sams accom panied Lynwood S. Bussey who sang “Because” and “I Love You Truly. Following the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Hipp> entertained with an in formal reception at their home for a few relatives and close friends. Among them being the parents of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Edwin Treadwell, Sr., of Forsyth,. Ga.; Mrs. E. W. Wade, grandmother of the bride; Miss Flora Wade and Mrs. J. C. Lee, all of Chester; Miss Edith Breedlove, Murphy, N. C.; Louis Jamerson, Brundige, Ala.; Lt. Ernest C. Hipp, Jr., brother of the bride, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Lee Hunter and Miss Lydie Hipp, aunts of the bride. Mrs. Treadwell, a graduate of Win- throp college, Rock Hill, and a mem ber of Phi Upsilon Omicron sorority, for the past four years has taught home economics at Shalloite high school, Shallotte, N. C. Mr. Treadwell is a student at the University of Georgia, Savannah division. Following a wedding trip in thej mountains of North Carolina, Mr and Mrs. Treadwell will make then- home in Savannah. denias and magnolias were uaed. Several appropriate games were enjoyed, after which the guest of honor was prsented a shower of mis cellaneous gifts. A chicken salad course and other party refreshments were served buffet style from a pret tily appointed dining table. Smith and daughter, Miss Margie Smith, entertained with a beautiful tea last Wednesday afternoon at their hom^j near Kinards. Honorees were Miss Annette Moorhead, fiance of Cald well Henderson of Greenwood, and Miss Ruth Senn of Newberry, who was married Sunday to Alfred Brad ley. Greeting the guests were Mrs. J. W. Smith of Newberry, and Mrs. W. H. Simpson of this city. Mrs. C. T. Smith and Mrs. Horace Payne direct ed the guests into the living room where the receiving line was formed. In the entrance hall bowls of daisies with reflected arrangements of gladi oli and lilies were effective. Receiving with the hostesses and honorees were Mrs. C. M. Smith, Jr., of Washington, D. C., Mrs. W. A. Moorhead and Mrs. R. Pratt Hender son. An arrangement of pink roses adorned the mantel and elsewhere were roses with pink and white gladioli. Miss Gertrude Smith, Miss Marguerite Marshall of Greenwood, and Batesburg, and Mrs. Bob Smith of Washington, D. C., entertained ing the living room. Throughout the afternoon piano selections were soft ly rendered by Mrs. S. P. Harris and Miss Margaret Wallace. Mrs. Raymond Pitts ^and Miss Nancy Owens invited guests into the dining room where decorated cake squares, , cream and mints were served.
