Prather gave a dinner at the home of the .former in Woodruff. The occasion was the birthdays of Mrs. Eula Quinton and Mrs. Kather ine Prince. Mrs. Pauline Lawson had as her Sunday guests Mr. and Mrs. G. M.j Mason and children of Asheville, N. C., Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Barnett of Columbus, N. C., and Mrs. Ola Wood of West Clinton. Misses Sara and Doris Balentine and J. C. Lawson visited in Laurens Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Smith and daughter visited Mrs. Alec Harris, who is a patient in the Laurens hos pital, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. O’Shields and children and Hugh Ballard attended the funeral of Mrs. J. B. Wasson at Fountain Inn recently. Mrs. L. R. Balentine and children visited in Woodruff Saturday. Mrs. Paul Cousins and daughter of Newberry, spent a few days re cently with Mr. and Mrs. Oavid Ad ams. Mrs. Alma Williams and daugh ter-in-law visited Mr. and Mrs. Welter Cato Saturday- Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McCarson and son visited Ed McAlister and daughter Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Rogers spent Saturday with their daughter, Mrs. R. P. Barnett, in Greenville. Mrs. McQuire of West Clinton, spent Sunday with Mrs. G. E. Bishop. Mrs. Nora Lee and daughter of Spartanburg, is spending this week Birthday Party Mrs. A. T. Crawford honored her son. Major, with a birthday party Friday, March 21, at 7:30 at their home. Games were enjoyed by the group. Later in the evening refreshments were served by Mrs. Crawford. The honored guest was remember ed with many gifts. ell, Reba Patterson, Ervin Shock-! ley and Barbara McLendon. Mrs. Pauline Lawson is out again, after being ill for several days. Mrs. Kelly Johns remains ill at her home. With The Sick Those able to be up after an ill ness of flu are: Miss Joan Kuyken dall, Mrs. David Adams, Roy, Har old and Donny Snyder. Jimmy O’Shields is seriously ill at his home. Honey Brown is- suffering injur ies after being struck by an auto mobile recently. Mrs. Ida Kirby is ill. Curtis Taylor is seriously ill. A.’s will have a study j course Thursday (today) at 4:30 at the Lydia Baptist church. All mem bers are urged to attend. Mrs. McCauley Passes Mrs. Emma McCauley, 83, widow of John C. McCauley, died Saturday morning at the home of her son, J. Paul McCauley, near Clinton, after several years of declining health. The .funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4:30 at Lydia Baptist church, conducted by Rev. J. H. Walker. Interment followed in .he family plot at tt^semont ceme tery. The services-i were attended by a large number of relatives and lifelong friends, with many lovely flowers banked upon the grave-as an expression of love and high regard from many who knew and admired her. Pallbearers were the following nephews: Jennings Britton, Clarence Britton, Paul Chesney, Lee Crowe, Frank Crowe and Arthur Crowe. Mrs. McCauley was born at Lan- ford Station, the daughter of the late James and Eliza Williams Crowe. She spent all her life in Laurens county, her married life be ing spent in this city and Goldville. Her late husband, John C. McCauley, preceded her to the grave six months ago. She was a faithful member of the Pentecostal church at Goldville, a gentlewoman of strong Christian faith, loved for her* strong qualities and sweet personality. By her many good traits of character she endeared herself to a large circle of friends in the communities where she lived. Mrs. McCauley had mdae her home with her son near Clinton for » the past three years. In addition to her son she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Janie Britton of Gray Court, and by a half-sister, Mrs. Robert Cody of Union, and two grandsons.
