HAPPY TRAVELING
ft is well to trovel girt with the shoe of peoce with all monkind. "If it be
possible, os much os lieth in you, live peoceobly with all men." It I*,
barely possible, but oim at it, ond if you do not perfectly succeed, try
ogain. Unconverted men will not love your religion, for they ore carnal;
that you cannot help, but you must love them, carnal as they are, ond by
degrees you moy win them to love both you and your Lord. If they will not
live peaceably with you, yet give them your love, and live peaceably with
them. Be not easily provoked, bear and forbear, forgive and love on, re
turn good-for evil, seek to benefit even the most unthankful, ond you will
trovel to heoven in the pleasantest possible manner. Hatred ond envy ond
persecution moy come, but a loving spirit materially blunts their edge,
ond often-times inherits the promise, "When a man’s ways please the.
Lord, he moketh even his enemies to be ot peace with him.” If you have .
to feel, "Now l am going this port of the journey with the view of aveng
ing a wrong," you will not journey pleasantly or sofely; but if from the
depth of your soul you Con soy, "When Christ made peace with Cod for
me, He mode peace between me ond my binerest foe," you will march
on like o hero. Trovel through the world os a sincere philanthropist, with
your feet shod with love to all of woman born, ond your course will be
happy ond honorable. Cod grant us that loving spirit which comes of
free grace, ond is the work of the Holy Spirit, for that is q mystic sandal
which gives wings to the feet, and lightents a weary road.
